The Player Who Does The Most Amazing Shots?

I like to watch a lot of YouTube matches. Over the years, I guess I've seen at least 500 or more, because I've watched some of them 3 or 4 times each. Also...I've played in a lot of tournaments that had many world class players.

I feel like I've seen just about everything...as most of you have, as far as what world class players can do on a pool table.

I realize that there are many players who may not astound the crowds with amazing shots, but they are still world class players, because they are consistent, make few mistakes and know how to be patient and win.

I would like some opinions though.

Could you give your opinions of who the top 3 players are...who hit shots that just amaze you. I'm talking about those players not just doing it once in a great while, but they regularly play shots that are unbelievable.

I'll throw one in the mix right now, for your consideration; Rafael Martinez!

Not just on YouTube, but I've watched this guy play for almost a decade now...and played against him several times.

He just amazes me with some of the shots he plays.

There is a downside to this kind of player though. I don't think they win as much as they could if they were more conservative.

Many of you have probably seen the match of Rafael playing Francisco Bustamante. I mentioned it to him one time, and Rafael told me that, that match was back in 1995.

It was one of the most amazing displays of pool shot making that I've ever seen.

One other thing, I think most of us would agree that Efren is almost in a class by himself regarding his shot making abilities so...would you name 3 besides him?

Even if it is an obscure player who may have retired many years ago. Remember...this may not be a player who has won the most money or tons of tournaments.

Well anyway...I would appreciate your opinions. Especially if you would direct me to any videos that may be on YouTube or Ustream, that shows those players in matches.

Corey Deuel. He has came up with some amazing shots in high pressure scenarios over the years.

My three favorites for amazing escapes are ....
...Efren Reyes
..Corey Deuel
..Chris Melling

Corey Deuel, Efren, Earl Strickland (pure shot making abilities, kicking is okay but not great).

Larry Nevel displays great stroke off pressure, but he tends to play average (still pro speed) when he plays tournament.

Chang YuLung, very aggressive and very good, as displayed this year during the World Cup.

Efren Reyes for sure. Corey Deuel has some wicked shots on YouTube too. Scott Frost has some very cool One Pocket shots.

The most amazing shot I ever saw was accomplished by a rather unremarkable man by the name of Clyde Featherstone, who made a most highly remarkable break shot.
One evening, while playing nine-ball with a local gambler, Clyde, who everyone knew could break with the ferocity of a man twice his size (he was barely five feet tall), chalked his cue tip and studied the table.
Having already lost a couple of large to his opponent, Clyde was doubly angered when he saw his wife come in the pool room with a midget on each arm (evidently the circus was in town) and a clown with one of those lease and collars with no dog, bringing up the rear. They all sat down at the nearby bar and pretended not to notice him.
Clyde bent over the end of the table, took one look at his wife, and with a wide grin, broke.
According to many who witnessed the event it sounded like lightning had struck. Men gasped and women screamed. The bartender thought the boiler had exploded and ran to the telephone to call the Fire Department. A man in a corner booth, who had simultaneously downed a shot of cheap vodka, began having chest pains and collapsed to the floor. It got worse from there.
After the cue ball struck the nose ball it caromed off the table, traveled some fifteen feet toward the bar, where it struck his wife in the temple, causing her to fall on the two midgets easily crushing them to death, (Mrs. Featherstone, it should be noted, was a very large woman).
The clown looked at the empty leash and collar and said, "Let's get the hell out of here, Buster!", and took off for the back door.
Needless to say, Clyde had the last laugh. Not only was his break spectacular, but it was also effective. After cold cocking his wife the cue ball went on to ricochet off the back bar and back on to his table where only the nine-ball remained. From there it was an easy cut to a corner pocket for the win.
Kind of takes your breath away, don't it? I mean about the clown and all. A leash and collar but no dog. Jeez. :)

Wu - superhuman accuracy and control even on power shots.

Efren - Most creative player ever.

Some guy I played the last time I played a major tournament. - Dead hooked, wedged against the rail and the 9 ball with the 8 ball a diamond away from the corner pocket 2 inches off the same rail? No problem, full masse out of that snooker, make the ball and get out.

Efren is king of course
Nick Van Den Berg is the one too. He took my money 1999 or 2000 at Eurotour with flashing style. We played race to 6 small bet.
We did play both perfect and only times inning changed were dry breaks. At 4-4 I had to play safe and made it perfect. I was sure I get ball in hand ... but Nick went shooting to corner pocket and rattled cueball 2 points to 1-ball and made it.. cueball then traveled 4 rails to 2 and to clearance and run out after that!
I remember how Feijen watching the game.. and he really laughed a loud. Nick told me he made same shot earlier Eurotour Final 10-10 hill hill win!
I remember a lot of Youtube matches he made Super shots. One of best is jump with bridge when there is shot clock ticking at WCoP

I was watching a ring game on a stream. Now that had some shot making. No safes being played. Those guys were getting out from everywhere. Banks with seemingly impossible position. Most exciting pool I have ever watched. Sorry Don't know all there names.

Efren Reyes: Pretty easy pick. He does awe inspiring things at times in rotation pool but the game he really blows my mind in is with some of the shots he can dream up and execute in 1-pocket.

Corey Deuel: Normally pretty boring and conservative style of game, but once in a while he pulls out a shot that makes my jaw drop. When this guy decides to put a stroke on the ball it is unreal what he can make the cueball do.

I don't think any #3 pick could really compare to the above two. There are guys who make some great shots at times, some great potters like Ko and Orcullo or inventive players like Alex, but those guys never quite leave me dumbfounded about what I just saw like Efren and Corey have done to me at times. Earl back in the day might have been a viable #3, in his prime he shot at some pretty insane shots no one else shot at, and made them more often than not.

Ronnie O. He is so awesome i would make rodney morris (also awesome) change his name away from "rocket."

larry nevel, the pearl, and Shannon the cannon, more cue power than most anyone, except for that guy that got kicked outta snooker for cheating(the man has stroke!) I also give an honorable mention to Semih Sayginer
