Of all who voted.. what is your skill level?

In other words are you qualified to even make a judgement in this regard. If I walked into a typical APA even with my bazooka case, I guarantee some people would think their Skull decal cue played better than a Szamboti.

The other ???? if hit is subjective.. would they be wrong?

If they do fel that way about their "skull deal cue" they are expressing their opinion. Did not Efrin Rayes paly with a 15 BUCK Cue for how many years, winning how much money.

You don't have to have a Cue with a big name to play GREAT. Maybe the cues is like a sugar pill that make you feel better.

There are allot of things missing from this equation. To start with the list is no where near complete. Second I agree with the previous poster that asked what the skill level of those that weighed in. This seems to be more of a popularity list than anything else.
There is no "control" factor to your experiment. By control I mean there should have been "X" number of people doing the testing of every cue. When "X" is unknown than the outcome cannot be quantified accurately.
I think it is a good try to a very complicated issue. The big picture for me is I will never buy a cue based on a scientific list. How it feels in my hands trumps any list or professional opinions.

If anyone says his skull decal cue hits better than a Gus, he is clueless.
 
I am curious is to why people quote the OPs list. Really? Do I need to scroll for 5 minutes to read your post?

Cdryden is correct. Something useful would be to have top-tiered players shoot all of these brands blindly (unidentifiable not eyes closed, lol) and rate them. Like those Coke versus Pepsi taste tests. While the OP must have spent some time on this, I don't find the use. Having posters of different skill levels who have only shot a limited number of sticks (whether it's 10 types or 30), isn't useful.

While this is subjective, there are probably cues that fall within different ranges within some objective categories. CBC made a point about Efren winning with a generic stick. A 5 star player with a 1 star cue is still better than any 2 star player with a 5 star cue.

I think there is some merit to knowing which cues are the best, or offer the best value, but it won't be found here! Trial-and-error and word-of-mouth win again...

What you fail to realize many with SKULL Cues are happier than PIGS in MUD. Some people can not tell or do not know the difference between Taco bell, and REAL MEXICAN Food. It is their opinion, and they are entitled to that.


BTW joey why don't you explain why Efrin Rayes your country man could play so well with out a high $$ cue for so many years?:smile:

If they knew how a cue should hit, they would have bought a better cue.

Efren's cheap cue was custom made . Not some decal cue.

thats terrible you havent played with a SW, Come to Vegas and I'll fix that. I have played with over 100 of them(because I live in Vegas and lots of guys would come to town to pick them up and bring them to the pool room) they all play a little different but most are a stiff hit, its real easy to stun the CB with a SW. There are a few a things that are real easy to do with a SW that are much more difficult with other cues. I have a couple softer hitting SW's.
 
i think this is a great project, its not accurate in the sense whats the best hitting because SW builds more cues than Gus did, but it does show what the market prefers and whats selling and appreciated by the market-and to me thats interesting. and I appreciate all the long hours that went into this effort.
 
I think now would be a good time to identify what makes those top 5 cues the best
