The Reyes Cup

So glad we get a Reyes cup, but this now brings about something I never thought I'd see....

The USA and the Mosconi Cup have become a warmup tournament for Team Europe and its real competition like 'The Border Battle' between USA and Canada used to be the warmup for the MC.

in reality yes, but i believe that despite the wording it's not europe vs asia but MC winner vs asia. so could be USA vs asia at some point in the future

What's the validity of the Ghorst situation on FB MR post.
Someone said he's jumpin' ship and going to play in the Reyes cup.
Well he does qualify by a combination of birth, geography and citizenship for each of the three teams involved in Matchroom's team comps. Reality though is 0%.

If Europe wasn't in both Cups, with the potential to win both*, Matchroom would be able to take the Cup winning teams and have them face off for the Ultimate Team Cup Championships...

...wishful thinking, I know...

It'll be VERY difficult for Any Team from any country, to beat profe$$ional Pinoy Rounder$.
Because quite often, their next meal depends on a $core.
Pure gamblers are ''tough'' action, it's why I've heard when the Pinoys matchup, 80% of the time they win.

Europe Is solid, I'd have a hard time betting against them

if you weigh in experience with the crowd pressure and MR events experience in general, europe is favorite. outside that i'm not sure they are, or atleast it's very close.

either way, the carrot this brings to asian players will make them take big strides at the 9-ball events. i think raga only played two major events this year and he made the finals in one of them. dang jinhu played one event and won it. maybe other players will come out of the woodwork

Dennis was on top of the pool world back then. How far the mighty have fallen!
I guess this is what you are referring too? His decline in earnings are severe, to be sure. But I heard about his VISA issues...so, in your opinion, has Dennis' ability suffered in addition? I've had no opportunity to see him play since the travel issues, so I've no clue really...but I suspect he is still a stone cold killer, no?

So Reyes Cup is between Europe vs Asia, not Asia vs The World nor Philippines vs The world. To me Since it's a Reyes Cup it should be Philippines vs The World.

Not as marketable, this attracts far more broadcast interest from around Asia in particular.

Its possible in future years it could be Asia vs the Mosconi Winners, I suspect at the moment its Europe as they want it to be competitive, but as soon as the US up their game it wouldn't be a surprise if it became Asia vs the Mosconi winner.

Or they could add the Pacific Cup to the events.

My team for Asia would be Ko Ping Chung, Ko Pin Yi, Wu Chia Ching, James Aranas and Anton Raga

good team. wu looked a little rusty at the spanish open / world cup of pool, i would guess he's going with WPA and keep playing heyball. aranas was partly carried by chua in the world cup victory. i would replace them with chua and yapp.

of course if wu goes back to 9-ball and back in form he's a no brainer. insanely talented player
