New Shaft Taper Option - Superpro

Thank you Pook for being so patient and helping me develop this new shaft taper to offer players.

For nine years I have been using my compound taper shaft ( parabolic curve into modern pro taper ) designed to be very stiff and pull flesh in a closed bridge.

This shaft was based on experiments from over 7 tapers that Ray and I worked with. Our shaft taper test pilot was Wendell Weir, truly a great player and dominated the Chicago Pool scene in the 70s and eighties. In the day Wendell was a monster at all of the games but was best known for his straight pool and one pocket prowess. Wendell had a very short and accurate stroke and was the master of the cue ball positioning so this taper was perfect for his game.

Today we have players like Pook and Shane that require a different taper to accommodate their long stroke via a super pro tapered shaft because their bridge interfaces the the shaft for a greater linear length.

When Pook got the cue he designed he also gave me very specifics weights and length instructions with out a rear weight bolt. This man knows exactly what he wants. When he got the cue he was very honest and said he wanted the shafts made thinner. I am no a believer of sanding shafts down on a brand new cue so I asked him if he could give me a month to develop the taper he liked as I knew if it was good for him it would be a winner with the long strokers collectively.

So Pook sent me a shaft and I mic the first 14 inches to see the very slight climb and I had my master machinist Allen combine that front end with my existing parabolic rear end of the shaft. We tested 4 different combo until we fond the perfect way to blend the transition area in the middle of the shaft.

This new shaft taper is still surprisingly pretty stiff but gives the player with the long stroke what he wants to feel in his bridge hand. For the short stoke guy who want to pull flesh in their closed bridge, my original taper is still available. Both these tappers are available from 13.5 MM to 11 MM sizes and can be ordered size specific.

So without any further adieu, here is what I kindly refer to as our Super Pookster Pro Taper in the shop. Thanks Pook for all your help and your third shaft is on the way on the house. Me thinks both of my shaft test pilots have got game!!!!

Thanks for the kind words guys,

Rick

Both tapers are available to any size for new cues ordered.
