I got to know Fred Yards Back in th 90's but have not seen him in at least 10 years. I heard he might of got into some trouble. Does anyone anything about him, I would love to get back in touch with him. If you would please pm me with any info.

If you are referring to "Kreole Freddie" Yates, I was introduced to him five or six years ago in Toledo, Ohio, at a Glass City Open. He was walking around with a photo album that had many cool pool photos in it. He showed it to me, and I really enjoyed perusing it.
I also heard he got in some trouble and may have gone to the pokey a couple years ago.
He's a wonderful writer. I have enjoyed many of his articles in The Snap Magazine. I was told he used to be wrestler in his day. I have a story about Kreole Freddie, but I'm going to save it for another time.
Sorry John, I only have one copy left of that issue. I had extras on all but the Buddy Hall and Brian Atchley issues until about a year ago. Then I advertised on here and sold many of them. As I said in my earlier post, I have copies of only certain issues left.
Here is what I have left, all in excellent condition and all really interesting reading:
The Florida Issue, the California issue, the Texas Issue, the David Howard issue, the Christmas issue, the History issue and the New England issue. And of these several are my last extra copy. The prices listed on my website remain unchanged.
JB Cases can have the first pick since he already sent money to me for the Gambling issue. Or I will gladly send him a refund. Additionally John, if you ever come to Los Angeles you're invited to visit me and read the Gambling issue at your leisure - No charge!
Besides the above extras, I have ONE complete set of all thirteen Snap issues, including the extremely rare Brian Atchley issue and the Buddy Hall reprinted first edition. If someone were to make me an offer I couldn't refuse I might sell them. Something like a plain Jane Tad might work too! :wink:

Freddie was a wrestler for a while, a few years before he helped start The Snap. I saw him some years ago at a BCA Trade Show, and he said he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, but he seemed to be doing okay.

Did the snap cover any of the baxter tour? Someone told me they had seen Floyd in Ms. I wonder what happen to Jim Brock? I think that was his name, he booked the matches on that tour.

There is one issue with JA shooting a masse' shot on the cover using a old Joss east cue, I have the butt of that cue and the magazine, When JA was inducted into the HOF he was using the same Scorpion cue for about 2.5 years, on the back cover of one of the current magazines there is a pic of JA with that cue and a nice write up by Eric and Cathy his sponsers, JA is wearing all black.
I'm going to take both butts, both magazine covers and a write up of the 20 years in between and have JA sign it, maybe have some sort of bronze or gold casting like a Olympic metal made of JA's nose seriously his head and put it all in a shadow box frame sort of thing. We could hang it in his pool hall but I had a better idea, were gonna give it to Lee when he grows up a bit more. JA said that Joss East was his first cue and he learned to play with it, and then the HOF cue from 20 years later, perhaps a cue from the middle of then in the display might be a good plan. I'm going to build it over the next few years, I have all the stuff in a safe place so it will get done. I bet Lee will love it, I love that boy and I thouight that he was the right person to own that stuff and he is his dads boy. JA wanted me to have the cue butts but I didnt feel right about that, so I told him of this plan for Lee when were all old and crippled and JA loved it.

NP Jay. I actually gave a bunch of Snap magazines to Bob Henning at Bebob. I will have to catch up with him to see how we can settle up on those. Maybe we already did. Fuzzy memory.

The Snap extensively covered the Baxter Tour from it's beginning until the magazine closed. In most issues, there was a section in Rail Trails dedicated exclusively to the tour, with tournament results, standings, upcoming schedules and commentary. Freddie and Floyd were good friends at the time, and the magazine actually helped Floyd organize and promote his tour.
As for where Floyd is now, I have no idea. Your best bet on that would be to contact the fellow at that billiard memorabilia website, who apparently knows Freddie and can get in touch with him. As I said in an early entry, I think his name is Dick Abbot, and you can contact him through his website at:

Other Snap Magazine Memorabilia
I was just wondering if anyone has any other Snap Magazine memorabilia. For example, early on, the magazine printed promotional posters with cover images on them, and also subscription cards that were kind of miniatures of these posters on one side. Then there were the two full-color posters, the imprinted clothing, and the tournament supplies, shown on the Merchandise page of the tribute site:

One would assume that these things, which (perhaps with the exception of the full-color posters) were mostly either disposable or would wear out over time, might be worth something to collectors, so I am curious to know if anyone might have examples or know someone who does.

There was also a Countertop Magazines Display Holder and SNAP distribute a Business NewLetters to The Billiard Community. The NewLetter was sent to magazine subscrbers when there was a few month delay between magazine been Published.
