Needing some advice.
Im having an issue with my arm coming into the body instead of going straight through the shot..causing misses. Anyone have any suggestions on why this happens. Thanks for any advice.

Anthony.

Try moving your back foot and see what happens.

you also need to practice getting your stroke straight. it takes time. once it gets right you will find balls going in the hole.

man, i feel for you; i fought this problem So hard for 5 years... on video i could clearly see that i was "clutching" my arm into my body.

i agree with Neil: change your stance. for me, i had to abandon what Mark Wilson calls the conventional stance and go to a semi-snooker stance, feet almost perpendicular to the line of shot. Darren Appleton uses a similar stance, again, it's not quite a modern snooker stance, but much closer to that than the standard pool stance.

for me, it also had to do with trying to do too much with my body and not letting it come Just from my arm. relaxing my grip (no, More than that, like, let the cue go completely at the end of the stroke) helped with that.

the good news is that you Can lick it -- i haven't got a trace left. good luck!

Thanks for the advice. It's getting in my head now, constantly worrying if my arms gonna go sideways or forward..lol sukks.

There is a good chance your back foot is over the line of the cue.

I'll be playing some tonight, hopefully I can figure this out.Seems the older I get, the more this is happening.

Thanks for the help.

is the cue stick going outside in ?so it ends up left of the shot line? i am assumoing you are right handed? yes ?
or is your forearm not clearing your toso?

Like this player.

Square up the body with the shot not all cockeyed and turned like your doing karate.

More like shooting freethrows.

It will square the head as well. Instead of the eyes cocking giving you a skewed look. Which we don’t look at things like that generally speaking, not stationary objects at least.

Lol forgot to put the link

If you put your back foot on the shooting line sometimes something as simple as turning your foot out just a little is enough to clear the body. You don't have to move your foot just turn the toe out a little more and experiment with small adjustments.I like to keep my body close enough to finish into it and some like to slide their stick along side the body. Just remember to move your body to the stick, don't move the stick to your body

I do suffer with this. I've found a few things that helped without a complete rebuild of my stance. I'm going to assume that normally your stroke is straight especially in practice. This little inside move pops up in competition.

Here's what helps me. Grip as lightly as you can. Always maintain your gaze on the OB/shot line until the stroke is complete. Your hand tries to follow your gaze. Gripping too tightly or incorrectly can cause a steering effect.

Good luck I hope you work it out. What works for one person might not help another.

Thanks for the advice an Links. I appreciate your guys input.
I don't get it figured out in the next couple months, gonna have the armed removed.

Looking for accuracy in your stance is somewhat like employing the I before E rule....
...it is constantly broken.

Often the table is in your way....sometimes you’re jacked up over a ball with one leg in the
air or even a knee on the rail or on the table.
You have to hit the cue ball with the cue....controling the cue will solve a lot of problems.

...a great stroke is somewhat like a tail wagging a dog...you are generating the power,
but the cue is telling your body what to do.

And hit everything from the floor, just like a knock out punch.
