I met Joe Tucker in the US Open. He was at a demo table when one vendor was trying out the Third Eye. It was rather a simple design and it looked quite odd at first sight. But let me tell you, it is indeed a very brilliant tool and is really helpful. Players of all levels can benefit from this tool. It is very inexpensive to buy and very easy to set up.
I took some Third Eye back to Canada and I have been giving them out to my friends. The general feedbacks is that it really helps one to improve by knowing where the center of the cue ball is. I also find it quite helpful when I use it during my break.
I just want to write this little note to thank Joe and I would also like to wish him all the best.
I am not a dealer of the Third Eye and I am not affliated with Joe in any business setting.

Opps!
Thanks. ;)

No prob.
I was wondering how this works and would it work for my 6 year old. he does not play on a stool so he is quite short. would this limit his field of view and do you think it would be beneficial for him?

What material is it made out of and can it scratch your shaft?

It is made of plastic. It did not scratch my shaft or any of my friends'. It is quite light and is not abrasive.
There is a video at his web site and I would highly recommend you to check it out.

I think you should ask Joe Tucker on his site regarding technical information such as this one.

In my opinion, I think this should work for players of all age groups.

Anybody want one, I'll sell mine for $10 delivered.
PM me.

Yea, send it to me. A friend asked to borrow mine and now doesn't want to return it. I did tell him I'ld pick up another. Joey, why get rid of it?

I recommend this product to anyone who plays pool...period. it has helped tremendously with my shot and drills in making the harder ones seem and look easy.

how did it help you?

in fact, this question is open to anyone who's used it.

This device forces you to have a straight stroke. It's awkward at first, but after a few minutes, you start to see what a true stroke really is. I highly recommend this device. Just a few strokes daily will keep you in superb straight stroking status.

The device also shows you if you are spinning or shanking your stick on your follow-through.
I was shocked how much I spun the stick on my follow througt.

I'm going to put my reply onto your thread Joey, mainly because we're always jerking and jabbing at each other in one way or another... and this time I'm going to say that you're absolutely correct, along with everyone else that has good things to say about the third eye. It does exactly that.

If you tend to use backhand english or tuck and roll right in the middle of your stroke though, it'll show a poor stroke when it's just a product of the stroke variation.

It doesn't harm the shaft because it's on the ferrule. I guess if you slipped it down on the shaft further for the straightness of your follow through there might be some problems, but the plastic material seems harmless enough.
I just want to see what happens AT IMPACT, so the ferrule is fine.

My vote on the third eye is....thumbs up all the way. (and I ain't an easy guy to satisfy) Good job Joe T....

It is made of plastic, and IMHO it is NOT good for your shaft. If your shaft is thick, 13mm or so, you will have to snap it on. The plastic actually has to be bent if you can imagine this!, and my shafts were 12 and 12.5 mm. If you imagine that I had to snap it on with those thin shafts then you can et. And while it is bending, it is definitely digging into your shaft. If you like the sound of finger nails coming down a blackboard, DM, the way you take of your cues, you will not be getting this product.

I am not trying to knock Joe's product. I would rather pay more for something like the 'bat-wing' bridge that slips onto the end of your cue - it is made of rubber around the slippage area.

My DVD on my laptop has a corrupt driver, so I couldn't watch the DVD. One day I will manage to watch it, but for now I am not putting that thing back on any of my cues. So with this in mind, I apologize for not being aware of any of Joe's guarantees.

For someone not trying to bad mouth a product I don't think you're doing a very good job. We went thru this before and I offered free replacements to anyone. Now do you want a replacement or do you just want to keep not bad mouthing the product?
Besides this your shaft stories don't seem to match up, first they were too loose "imagine that" and then you had to snap it over them thin shaft?

This was our last discussion.

It didn't do squat for me, or at least every time the sides of the device never touched my cue ball. My stroke was already straight, as another poster said.

One other thing, it didn't fit my 12.5mm shaft. Just slid right off. It barely fit onto my 12.75 shaft, but slid forward due to my powerful sroke .

I think one would be better off buying something with quality, such as the 'batman' bridge, and rigging two pieces coming out and forward.

You have some legitimate complaints there so let me tell you what you can do about it.
First off when you do get a chance to watch the DVD you’ll see that I offer free replacements to anyone that breaks theirs. That material was very brittle and is why I have now switched to a better plastic material which is much softer and more flexible. The 3rd Eye Stroke Trainer will now fit onto ferrules of 11mm-14mm without a problem and anybody that has already purchased one and would like to exchange or replace theirs can do so by sending me the old one; Joe Tucker, PO Box 7252, Warwick RI 02886

As for the not doing squat issue;
I think if you do watch the video not only will you gain some knowledge, find a use for the 3rd Eye in your own game but you’ll most likely be able to help some other players out also, if you’re the sharing kind.

Sorry for your bad experience, it’s not the first one that broke but you are definitely the first to talk so negatively about it.

Good luck rigging up the Bat Bridge.

Joe T

I'm gonna vouch for Joe on this one.
My shaft also has a 12.5MM ferrule.
Joe offered to replace my 3rd Eye for free.
I'm not going to nitpick a product I paid two lunch money for. It comes with a free DVD too.
Joe suggested to use tape. I just taped with three strips of tape the ferrule and I'm happy with that.

Mine is not too loose and it did not scratch anything on my shaft either. I only put it on the ferrule and it is very tight. My shaft is 12.75mm, and my break cue is 13.3mm.
Keep up the great work Joe. ;)
Hope this helps.
