The Thrift Shop Rambow

Was at a thrift market in Phoenix and came across this cue. Possible Rambow or a personalized Brunswick, either way cool cue. Cue is in rough shape. Found out that an older player here used to own it and even had played in the same room I call home which is Kolbys Corner Pocket. Going to try and find some people who knew him who might be able to validate whether he ever said it was a Rambow or not. Listed it on Ebay recently to raise some funds for a project car I am working on. More pictures in my Ebay listing here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/262519117592?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649=&rmvSB=true

I saw that when it was listed. Shame it got butchered.

Still a cool find though.

There have been a few cues posted this year with much controversy over
weather or not they are a Rambow or a Brunswick Personal cue. To me this has no defining characteristics of a Rambow.

Interesting... What do you believe to be the defining characteristics of a Rambow?

Never said "the" defining characteristics. It just lacks what I would look for when
Figuring out Rambow or no Rambow. Obviously the "Made by Rambow" is missing.
Secondly the joint and front of cue has been very poorly repaired and the joint is gone beyond recognition. Lastly the butt end of cue has NO modifications, it's all stock Brunswick parts. (Most rambows with hoppe ring I've seen are a bit thicker, not to say there are none like it). So as I said IMO this is a Brunswick hoppe pro with monograms and name applied (which was an option they offered)

Interesting I agree

Rambo always used premium blanks. He had first pick. He used the triple A stock. Other builders as Rambo did would use a flat face pen to embellish.
I only owned signed Rambo's. With all that said this Cue was treated like a vampire.
The points are not even.
Cool display piece.

I have been trying to track down some of the guys Dick Pruess played with as they are players in a billiard club at the poolroom I call home so I might get some more info and details on the cue. Kolbys is only 10 miles away from the antique market I found the cue at.

Even if he told them it was a Rambow it won't make much difference I suppose. Nothing done custom other then the signature from my viewpoint but still a possibility it is a Rambow, joint might be original but looks so odd as its longer then standard. It certainly is a good display piece. I found this info and am tracking down the other guys via Facebook, waiting for replies or to see them at Kolbys.

I was leaning toward Brunswick also. But after viewing the ebay pictures I am almost certain it is just a Brunswick and not a Rambow.
