I prefer to stick my cue out the window of my truck as I am driving down the dirt road, run the tip on the gravel..I have found that this gets the fine gravel and dirt embedded into the tip...so that way I never have to use chalk.....
Good grief, by launching this thread I've turned loose a horde of internet jokesters. Very funny, boys and girls. I'll continue tapping as described, but thanks to those of you who provided helpful responses.
Well if you really want to get nitty and gritty A trick I learn from some very drunk and I mean very drunk Koreans. Is soak the tip in urine and never chalk it. Stinks real bad but for some reason they kept taking there cues with them to the restroom and they always came back wet.....
I find a tip tapper actually works pretty good. All I do is place the tapper on the tip and use FIRM pressure as I roll the tapper on the surface of the tip. All that does is indent (kind of like golf ball dimples) the tip if done right to break up the glaze.
