The way to fix APA... Realkingcobra

The funny part is our APA cities in Charlotte uses 81 7 ft Diamond smart tables, 80 for the tournament and 1 for Kelly Fishers break contest and challenge a pro. The people who went to Vegas from our room this year were shocked to have to play on junk after playing on great tables at the local level, I was at SBE last week and the same guys set up the smart Diamonds as in Charlotte. They do a grreat job every 3 months here.--Leonard

I'm guessing Valley is a sponsor of the APA? I've also heard of the bad conditions at the APA Nationals.

When I play the BCAPL National every year, the Diamond tables that are set up play fantastic, or at least in my experience.

Naaaa...Valley don't sponsor the APA by like giving them money or anything like that to use their pool tables in the nationals, they still charge the APA for the rent of the tables no different than Diamond would. A while back, the official table of the APA WAS the Diamond tables, until Mark bought the BCAPL, then I guess the APA looked at that as a conflict of interest to their playoffs:confused:...WHAT conflict of interest??...What difference does it make if the playoffs are on Diamonds... or Valleys, other than the play ability of the tables??...which SHOULD in my opinion...be in the best interest of the players...wouldn't you think? I don't know, maybe I'm wrong about all of this;)

To me, the real joke of the APA Diamond / Valley fiasco is the lengths they will go to NOT to support Diamond. For the second year in a row, the APA booth at SBE had a Valley table in it. Why oh why did they have to do that. Over a hundred Diamond small tables and one Valley. Did anyone else notice?

The answer does seem pretty clear: The APA is in direct competition with the BCA. The owner of the BCA has an ownership interest in Diamond. So, by transfer, the APA doesn't want to do business with Diamond either.

Not saying it's right or good business. I'm just saying it seems pretty obvious that this is the reason.

Oh yeah, how could you not?

I wonder how the APA would take it if all the members sent in a letter requesting Diamond tables be used in the national playoffs...:D... because the members are really the ones paying the rent on the Valley tables....believe that!

Dogs,

Agree with premise of your business assessment. However, what does the BCAPL have to do with the Super Billiard Expo? Allen Hopkins Productions partners with both the APA and TAP. Why do some regional APA events use Diamond tables? Including the Philadelphia APA Regional played along with the Valley Forge Eight Ball event last June. I'm talking about one pool table. Primarily for display (although I did see Mike Massey doing some trick shots on it). My guess is even the loyal APA players in attendence didn't notice the table was different. This is petty beyond all belief! Don't play APA. Never have, never will. Must admit, it was nice having Larry Hubbart around our pool room in Rochester during the seventies and eighties. He was the "Iceman" back then.

Of course, these questions are rhetorical. Just verbal masturbation:p.
