I have to comment too
I just would like to comment that some statements in this thread could be misleading. In most states(and from the sound of it Illinois is one of them), it is against the law to provide free liquor anywhere anytime at a place where a lliquor license is in place. You also cannot bring in any liquor from the outside to an event or to distribute. The hotel is putting its license at risk if it allows that to happen. It is not a matter of profit to the hotel. Most states technically do not allow happy hours where you offer 2 for 1. That is why most places now just give a discounted price. I believe there is a formula where you must charge at least a nickel over cost, at least in California. So don't blame the hotel. It's the law.
redrogue05 said:In reply to mr. oddshots post I have to comment. I was there working very hard to help the event promoter get everything done. The teams in the doubles "Bucket of Beer" event were told if the had any questions or concerns to come to me personally. It was not hard to find me. However, Mr. oddshots decided to call the resort desk and ask for a manager to find out where his free beer was. Had he asked the right people he would have been informed that the beer would have been personally delivered by Mrs. Romano herself. We wanted to get the event underway so as the players were playing and not standing around. When the call was made it alerted security that items were being given away and not sold by the resort. They were obviosly concerned about losing profit. That made it immpossible for us to deliver beer to the teams as the resort would have shut down the entire event. In reguards to the tables it cost alot of money to get those tables to the event and use thenm for six days. If Mr. oddshots would like, we could take it out of the events payouts and or the spectator fee that he did not pay on the days he was not registered to to play( which were more that one.) If Mr. oddshots and I use Mr. to point out the lack of respect he had for both Mr. & Mrs. Ramono, had used a little more class or any at all, he would have not made bad decisions and would have supported the event by playing in more events or making sure he payed his cover. He did not even by a shirt. All that money goes to help make next year better. Also, good reviews help us promote the event to possible sponsors who may be willing to bring in and pay for tables that do not have to be coin op. Anytime oddshots would like to volunteer his time to help the event run better I will be glad to have his help. I am a player who comes to this event, all the way from Buffalo, NY, not to play but to work. To all the classy players who were there this year I am glad you had a good time and hope we can continue to provide a great event.
To those who felt they did not get treated fairly we would be glad to have the help next year.
