Nothing is clear as to when any sport will resume here in the UK yet but you just never know ! :wink::D:thumbup:

Meh...out of touch.

Ronnie has made it once to he quarter finals in 5 years. Higgins made it to the last couple of finals.Could have won it 2 years ago (coin flip).

My take would be in order. No great favourite. Too much talent.

Trump
Robertson
Selby
Murphy
Higgins
Bingham
Maguire
Yan
Wilson
Allen

Williams, O'Sullivan and Ding are finished. My hopeful to win would be Hawkins as he puts in a lot of effort and never complains. He just lacks the final polish.

Hi Geosnooker !

One minute it was odds on Judd Trump V Neil Robertson in the World Snooker 2020 Final then BOOM came the lock down and our end of season World Snooker Championships TV Festival has become a first tournament of the season if it ever happens lol !

I wouldn't like to rush to Da Bookie with bets right now , nobody has a clue and the form book is out the window in all sports right now lol !

Re the current break.

My ‘guess’.

Certain players are relishing this and hitting the table for 6 hours a day, this includes Trump, Wilson, Yan, Gilbert,

A few others are keeping at it. Robertson, Murphy. Bingham, Maquire. Carter, Perry, Allen.

Then there a few who just plug away...Higgins, Hawkins

Ding?...he’s got way too much pressure on him every tournament.

I doubt if OSullivan and Williams are even playing every day. I’m guessing next year’s big Saudi prize kept both of them around for this past season but that lure has likely worn off. Williams is having fun this last couple of seasons...doesn’t care if he wins or not. In contrast, Ronnie doesn’t have the coping skills to bow out as gracefully...he needs the attention. Ronnie will self destruct away from the limelight.

Talksports Hawksby and Jacobs afternoon show had an interview with Ken Doherty on Wednesday afternoon and they asked Ken how are the Snooker players coping with the Corona Virus lock down and are they all back home preparing for the World Championships .

Ken just laughed and said it's not like you'd imagine , we don't all stay in fancy houses and mansions with a snooker table at home , I don't even have one in my house , in fact very few of the players have a table at home .

As to the World snooker Championships being played behind closed doors with no audience Ken said Mark Williams has said he doesn't want it to go ahead without an audience .

Hi Bob !

I hadn't seen this one before. Seven snookers needed...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef7A79jsUr0

Good find Bob !

I'm pretty sure I posted it to Scaramoche Miscellaneous Stuff thread .

I'm pretty sure my comments at the time were along the line's of Ronnie O'Sullivan would've thrown the cue on the table and said to the ref set the balls up for the next frame but it just shows you if you keep the head there's always a chance to win the frame !:cool::thumbup:

1995/96 Snooker Season: Hendry’s Dominance

https://snookerhq.com/2020/05/15/199596-snooker-season-hendrys-dominance/

Hi Folks !

Without being biased and posting favourite moments of Stephen Hendry I thought i would ask you the question first .

Stephen 'The King Of The Crucible' Hendry.....

Oh no I just blew my cover and oh yes he is still better in my estimation than Ronnie O'Sullivan etc .

Yeah let's start an arguement Dude's ,

The King Of The Crucible ?

Hendry or O'Sullivan ?

Good point.

We need to remind ourselves that Snooker is a third rank pro sport ( for money) .Whenever that 45th ranked player wins a match and moves up a notch he is Certainly pleased to nab that 5k in prize money. It’s not peanuts to him. He’s also likely crestfallen if the loses the next Round and 10k or whatever. There goes the new car or bathroom Reno.

I suspect guys like Ronnie, Selby, etc.make as much in promos, sponsorship etc as at the table...everything paid for to play in Chinese 8 ball tournaments. Not so for player ranked 104 who is driving a forklift at a warehouse.

Anyways I always feel good when a lower ranked player does unexpectantly well in a tournament. The money means a lot to him and likely is a big motivator to stick with it.

I don't know why the lnik won't share but here's the quote .

Quote .

Peter Ebdon has used a BBC interview to a promote a conspiracy theory around the coronavirus pandemic.

The former world snooker champion believes that the government’s social distancing guidelines are harmful.

More than 34,000 people have died from the virus in the UK with thousands more affected.

The UK has been in lockdown since March with the public encouraged to limit trips outside and to maintain their distance from each other when they do so.

Ebdon, who famously beat Stephen Hendry to take the world title at the Crucible back in 2002, believes the public are being “brainwashed”.

“There’s an awful lot of brainwashing going on at the moment,” Ebdon said on BBC Radio Five Live. “We’re facing the greatest psychological operation in history.

“Is social distancing harmful? Yes, it probably is. People need touch, need to shake hands. They need to build up their immunity.”

Social media users were quick to criticise Ebdon’s comments.

One tweeted: “Peter Ebdon interview on @bbc5live now. Bat s**t crazy.

“He’s going full conspiracy theory – claiming social distancing should end, media brainwashing, ‘energy’ healing.

“He’s a public figure: his opinions bear weight. Dangerous & disgraceful to allow him airtime.”

Another added: “Peter Ebdon is an outstanding snooker player (although perhaps not always the most gripping to watch).

“His *opinions* knocking the credibility of a scientific, peer-reviewed approach to giving credible advice – and the empirical evidence on which it’s based – are laughable!”

Ebdon is not the first sportsman to come out publicly with conspiracy theories relating to the pandemic.

Former Arsenal and England defender Sol Campbell earlier this month claimed that the virus was man-made while boxer Amir Khan suggested it was linked to 5g phone networks.

Snooker Could Return in June with TV Event

'Could' , sounds a bit like IF by Rudyard Kipling :

Quote .

" (‘Brother Square-Toes’—Rewards and Fairies)

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
