Hoping that anyone with any info about the WPBA Carolina Classic could post here. Any updates, match times, dorm party stories...anything would be great.
I checked last night and the WPBA has the brackets up, so I hope this is a sign that we are starting the year of good!

The only info I have thus far is that Sarah Rousey plays Tracie Hines at 1 pm.

Game on!

As I said, I'm pulling for all of the AzBilliards ladies to win, and I'm especially looking forward to seeing Melissa Herndon in the semi-finals, once again.

A race to 7, it's up for grabs (IMO). Almost a crapshoot with a short race, and ANY player who gets the rolls, in tandem with good shooting, will be the one to triuimph.

JAM,

Melissa Herndon plays Maureen Seto in the first round.

I knew the earlier matches were a race to 9. However, I'm so confident that Melissa Herndon is going to have a great tournament that she, indeed, will be in the semi-finals. A race to 7 in the semi-finals, the player with the strongest drive will surface. The cream always rises to the top! ;)

Where's Maureen Seto from? Hey, Gremlin, you've still got the insider's scoop on the happenings! Did you change your mind, jump in your Bentley, and cruise on down to the Carolinas? :p

Looks like Angel Paglia sent Val Finnie to the one loss side, 9-2.

Lisa Marr was also sent over 4-9 to Ellen VanBuren.

Ah, the wait continues.

As well as longer races in the earlier rounds, it is also worth noting that the WPBA use a seeding system, so the top players are always matched with the lower-ranked plays in the early rounds.

Do they also use an alternating break in the earlier 9-game races as they now use in the televised final stages?

Maureen Seto, or Mo, as she is usually called, is from Ontario, Canada. She is one of the top ladies snooker and 9 ball players in Canada.

Ewa seems to have struggled with her game ever since she was inducted into the hall of fame, but 9-3 is a pretty bad beating.

Heck, maybe I should put up a vBookie event on whether Kelly Fisher will win a WPBA event this year.

You are correct Richard; it is only like 4 hours away, awfully close and almost too good to pass up. Unfortunately our time is rather booked now, so I guess you could say it was poor scheduling on the WPBA's part...how dare they not call and check with me before scheduling an event! LMAO! Plus, there is a tourney I'm gonna play in on Sunday....if those TV rounds would start on Saturday I would have made a road trip to see her play in 'em, but that is too much for a Sunday. :(

I hope you will post any updates you might get. :)

Hope to see you at Valley Forge. ;)

Oh heck! Tired of typing. Just go to Landsharks link up above! :D

Jennifer has won her first two and faces Allison next. Heck, what kind of a run would that be? Beat Karen in Florida last year and then beat Allison in Carolina this year?

Sarah lost to Tracie Hines hill-hill and plays Gina Kim next.

Lisa lost to Ellen VanBuren and faces Deby Welfringer next.

Melissa got by Mo Seto and faces Jeannie Seaver next.

Hi,
Isn`t she from Toronto?

Tough Comp

Hi,

Anybody checked out the brackets as of this Friday morn? I don't see any easy path for any of the "favorites" to the finals. Bet it's gonna be hot-n-heavy today in NC! Two of our AZBers (Melissa n Jenn) stand poised to be "major" spoilers. Sarah n Lisa have moved over to the one loss side with good matchups that could put them right back in the thick of things (IMHO)!

Getting Tougher!

Yup, it's looking like the Carolina Classic could be a major turnaround in the Allison-Karen dominance of tour events. All of the current matchups look to be nail biters. Jenn appears to be catching her stride right now and ought to give Allison fits. Melissa took Seaver handily at 9-3  and I think her matchup with Corr could go hill-hill if she stays focused! As Grem says "Lady Velvet" looks to have a great matchup with Helena!

Grem,
At what point do they change over from 9 to 7 game races?

I recognize the champions when I see 'em. Melissa is on a roll, and she's capable of capturing the title. I'm hoping to see her in the semi-finals, and with a race to 7, she's got a shot at the winner's circle!

Hey JAM,

Are you saying they go to 7 game races in the semis? I figured with ESPN showing more matches they would start in the quarters.

LS77,

Ain't those just the cue-tist li'l ruby red slippers. :)
So did Mr. Wizard transport you or not? If so how bout a bracket update. :D

Terry

I think the format used in Florida with the single elimination at 16 was special for that event. According to the brackets on the WPBA website, it's back to the usual format of double elimination through the tournament and only semis and finals as races to 7. Does anyone know why the Florida event was different last year? Was it a test for a new format possibly used on a permanent basis in the future?

Nope, the transport didn't work....maybe it had something to do with the fact that I was kicking my computer as opposed to my heels???

And yes, to answer your other question, the TV matches are races to 7....TV films the semi's and the finals only. Last December they experimented with a new format which showed the quarters....but as for now, that was a one time deal. IMHO...they need to film all of them live...via the net at least....I would pay....because now I am getting upset that there have been no updates. AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Frat Raid (j/k)

Well I just got the skinny on why the brackets haven't been updated.
Seems a frat staged a panty raid on the girls. The frat president was found with a shaft thru his chest. Allison is accusing Karen of the crime. Julie is refraining from talking to the police. A police spokesperson says the only evidence to the identity of the "ASSASSIN" is the shaft from a JUDD cue in the frat presidents chest. :D
