Ok maybe not a law but a rule..

Allright no rule but how about common sence dictating that we do not display our underwear while bending over a pool table?

Realy just a gripe but I have been seeing more and more of guys showing off thier boxer shorts to other pool players and bar patrons.Fortunately none of these fellas are competent pool players yet.Is this just a laughable perculiarity or a disturbing trend?

It's a disturbing trend. We HAD one player that would do that wearing sweat pants. I got tired of seeing it, so when he was bent over to shoot I walked up behind him and finished the job for him. I yanked them right down around his ankles!!:grin-square: I told him that if he wants to show it, show all of it.

Yeah, I caught some flak to dodge about being gay. (I'm not) But, he doesn't wear them below his butt anymore!

The part I never understood- the trend got started in the prisons. The new guys would have to wear their pants low to 'advertise their wares'. How that became a fashion statement is just beyond me.

Maybe they had who was gay mixed up.
Happy new year Neil.

While I have no desire to see some guy's boxers as he is bent down on a shot, I think this is a case where the rule should be applied in a completely different way where the female players are concerned. In most cases, I have no problem with them revealing a bit more than expected.

I think you can thank the fashion industry for that. Pop culture in general such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Victoria's Secret and others alike advertise this junk all the time. I see this next generation of both sexes wearing their drawers lower and lower and their clothes more promiscuously everyday. Even young men seem to look more and more feminine going further down the chain.

We are in need of a serious wake up call. The world wouldn't be this way if everyone played good pool. Pool players. The world needs more good pool players.

I agree about the pants unless they're female and hot!

Thankfully I've never seen a strong player dress like that.

On a related note, 11 years ago when I was in my high school drama class we had a assignment to create a skit that dealt with peer pressure. So we decided to come up with a situation where an upopular kid was tricked into walking around with one pant leg rolled up because "all the cool kids were doing it". At that time we thought that was the most perposterous thing we could think of believing that it could never become an actual fashion statement.

Fast forward 6 years later, I'm working in a video store and a guy walks in with one pant leg rolled up, soon after I see plenty hip hop guys doing it.

If I ever see a pro player walking around with one pant leg rolled up and his pants down to his ass, I'm quitting the game and switching to golf.

Yeah I don't get this either, I can't understand the whole 'metrosexual' thing. My pet peave is the neatly trimmed 5 O'clock shadow.

The only thing that should cause a man to take more than 10-15 minutes to get ready in the morning, is a bowel movement.

Still only takes me 10 minutes if the movement comes first:D J/K

Agreed! I love seeing stuff like this at the pool hall... Doesn't happen often, but every now and then a group of girls from a local strip club show up (no, not these...)... It's always enjoyable! :)

So why do you hate washing machine repairmen so much? Guys who work on household appliances are people to man. GEEEZZZ

Probably leaving too early and the wrong nights... There are some very good looking women in leagues there that from time to time will have their "whale tails" showing...

Granted 95% of the nights are pretty damn boring...

But, there are some pretty good nights there and some women playing in some very interesting outfits that make me think "Did they know they were going to be playing pool tonight?!?!?" The interesting ones normally don't tend to show up until 1-2am-ish and only on Fri/Sat...

To be totally serious for a moment, I think that a true answer lies in conformity. ALL poolplayers (male or female) in any tournament should be be required to wear the exact same thing, as long as it is comfortable.

With this standard applied to everyone without discrimination, the game of pool could only elevate itself and become more popular.

(I'll pay handsomely for the first real photo of Buddy Hall playing in this new pool tournament attire)

I will have to remember this for a year from now... The Green Room has a New Years Eve Scotch Doubles tournament every year in which the attire is PJ's... Wearing those will go over well! :)
