Over the winter while scripting Racking Secrets II I told my wife that somebody is going to make a rule in 10 Ball where you HAVE to break outside the box! Then before actually fiming a friend in Norway told me he had heard that the Euro tour was thinking about doing it. And those dam Euro's went and did it before I released the dvd. I did put a couple of suggested break options for our European buddies in there though.

I don't agree with the the rule though as in 9 Ball the box was designed because of a flaw in the rack in which it takes very, very little skill to exploit the corner ball but in 10 Ball just because those 2nd balls are playable doesn't mean its easy,,it does take some good skill to create the consistency. And I do rant a little bit about that in the DVD ;)

Joe, I guess you're just going to have to learn to think outside the box. ;)

Thanks, I'm here all week.

fiirst off Joe I hope your well,

secondly I know some guys who have a bit of a handle on the 10 ball rack, its more predictable than the 6 ball break. The 2nd ball behind the 1 or top ball is makeable in the side, not as reliable as 9 ball, but 10 ball in a few yeas they will have it figured out. I cant say how they do it or what to look for-i promised not to. I cant do it my break sucks period.

I think they play rotation in the PI because its a more advanced game and I dont think, could be wrong there is no real break for if like 6 ball.

9 ball is history since the break was solved., I seen the 10 ball break a ball into the side 70% of the time or more, you just have to know what to do. SVB seems to know.

C'mon, E-man, share the wealth.

OK, maybe I throw some stuff out there...

It's not that tough to get the 2nd row ball rolling towards the side pocket. What take a little skill, I find, is that it takes a decent power break and a square hit on the 1 ball, to do it. If you can't break at least 19-20 mph or faster, it cuts your chances waaay down. Also, having the skill to put a square hit on the 1 ball, consistently, is something that a lot of ppl can't do.

As far as teh rack, look to make sure the rack is not tilted and that the balls in the first 3 rows are frozen (as if you were playing 6 ball). Start by breaking from a half diamond over from center and adjust a little bit based on your stroke and whether the 2nd row ball is hitting high or low.

Eric >quick brain dump

In rotation, they still make the 2 balls under the 1 in the side, its still a triangle so same concept

Lots of us have a handle on it but like I said its a skill shot not a flaw in the rack, it takes a good consistent break unlike the wing ball in 9b.

can be good and bad

I learned a lot more about the spaces and it'll be a nice surprise for many.
