Think about it this way...

Keith Thompson. Tommy Kennedy. Reed Pierce. All good second tier pros who were known but who had a good week and won the US Open.

And lots of great players have never won it.

Ann before you say never....54 year old Mike Lebron won the US Open. You're very mistaken if you think Robb or Mike don't have the skills to win it.

What year did Keith Thompson win the US Open? I thought he win a Johnston City tourney. Maybe this is what you meant. Maybe he did win a US Open, and I was just not aware of it.

Not saying a second tier pro could not win again, but it does seem like the fields have been getting tougher and tougher. Of course Mike or Robb could win, but I don't see it happening as long as Shane, Dennis, Busty, Daz, Dechaine, Mika, etc. More and more overseas players seem to be playing the event lately. This could spell trouble for the current flock of America players....except one in particular. :)

We don't even know who's going to show and poney up $1000.
If the money is on escrow and Dennis shows up and SVB got knocked out before the finals, I'll go with Dennis.
Or Geronimo.

American players only?

Taking SVB out I would bet that at least 2 of these 3 get one. Maybe even all 3. In no particular order: Dechaine, Shaw, Morra and I'm real close to putting Justin Hall on the list.

So you don't give any of the Europeans or Asians much of a shot?
