Just wanted to throw out a note of gratitude for the good info I've picked up here. Even though I haven't had a chance to really practice at home in a few weeks, using some of the tips I've picked up from here I was able to play some of the best pool I've played in a long time last night. Creamed my opponent in a battle of safeties (he is a really good player and thrives off safeties).. Next game was a break and run, following game would have been a table run but one of his balls rolled between the cue and the 8 (finished him the next shot). Ended up losing the last game due to stupidity on my part, kept missing my leaves by hitting too hard and getting out of shape, but still managed to get to the 8-ball first (completely out of shape - not shot on it and lost because of it). The good news is even though I messed up my leaves on the last game (purely mental breakdown), I didn't miss a single shot that I consider within my ability, even a number of hard ones. I also made a lot of great position shots.

Not bragging, I'm not a great player by any stretch, but last night I felt confident and shot well for me. I've been working on a pre-shot routine, trying to go through the same steps every shot whether it's a gimme or not. Probably the best tidbit I have picked up from here is to shoot from the elbow. This seems to have greatly reduced or eliminated elbow drop and really increased consistency for my game.

Thanks guys! :thumbup2:

Congrats!! I think last night was just a good night for pool, as I, too, had one of the best nights I've had at league... ever. Which also included a table-run and some good safes to get the win. :)

There's a lot of great info here, *if* you can sort through all the drama; which has been really thick lately. :(

This is the best Billiards forum going as far as i am concerned. Whilst everybody may not agree on the various aspects of the game you can at least get both sides on here and then decide what works best for you.

For me personally this forum is something i look forward to everyday. I dont know anywhere else that i can get the answers to pool questions other than on here. sometimes i dont like what i hear, and i know others dont like what they hear from me, but thats what makes this forum the best - we can usually just agree to disagree.

p.s. i aint ever wrong...

Glad to see you are getting results.

I love this forum and without it I would be stuck in "D-" player HELL. There are tons of helpful information and fantastic people here all in the pursuit of getting better at this game and making others better also. We are all family here at AZB and just like family get togethers we do not all get along or agree and there some crazy cousins, uncles and aunts at the gathering but bottom line we are still family. This place has helped my game in so many ways I could not begin to list all the folks here that were key. I am glad to see that it has helped you.

I agree 100% but don't forget onepocket.org it is for onepocket like this site is for the rest of pool.

Never let it vary during a session. Change when practicing, add/delete what you need. Having a process to follow will ake you where you want to go.
