Just wanted to throw out a note of gratitude for the good info I've picked up here. Even though I haven't had a chance to really practice at home in a few weeks, using some of the tips I've picked up from here I was able to play some of the best pool I've played in a long time last night. Creamed my opponent in a battle of safeties (he is a really good player and thrives off safeties).. Next game was a break and run, following game would have been a table run but one of his balls rolled between the cue and the 8 (finished him the next shot). Ended up losing the last game due to stupidity on my part, kept missing my leaves by hitting too hard and getting out of shape, but still managed to get to the 8-ball first (completely out of shape - not shot on it and lost because of it). The good news is even though I messed up my leaves on the last game (purely mental breakdown), I didn't miss a single shot that I consider within my ability, even a number of hard ones. I also made a lot of great position shots.
Not bragging, I'm not a great player by any stretch, but last night I felt confident and shot well for me. I've been working on a pre-shot routine, trying to go through the same steps every shot whether it's a gimme or not. Probably the best tidbit I have picked up from here is to shoot from the elbow. This seems to have greatly reduced or eliminated elbow drop and really increased consistency for my game.
Thanks guys! :thumbup2:
