i am not going to continue to play like this. i am not going to continue to hose up 75% of the runnable racks i come across anymore. i am going to stop frustrating myself. its time to put an end to stupid and poor playing.

my thought process is that until i can play consistent on my own table at my own place there isnt much use to venture out to play in any tournaments and simply throw away $$$.

however, the time has come. i am going to start to play much more consistent pool/9-Ball. thats all there is to it. i am bound and determined.

Bullshit. I have been out of tournament/league pool for about 5 years now. I can run racks at home but put me up against another human, no matter how good or bad, and I can't make two in a row. I've lost all of my heart. Keep up a good practice routine but you have to actually get out an play to make some improvement.

Freakin' get loose with your stroke, don't overthink the shot, zing 'em in, take a full stroke whenever you can, and don't be afraid of blowing shape. When you blow shape, just cinch the next ball. Don't listen to others when all that happens either. Just pot the stupid balls and watch your wins go up.

Oh, and when someone says you're the luckiest SOB, smile and thank them. When they say you put them in a coma, tell them it's all in their head. When they complain about your sloppy play, just chuckle. And win. When they complain you're always getting perfect shape and running out, playing great and so on, thank them for the compliment, even if what they saw isn't what you really wanted in the first place.

Lots of stuff happens, capitalise on it.

Just quit pool, you'll never get better.

In order to play great pool you can't just train physically. You have to "learn" every aspect of the game.

What I mean is:
you have to train your mind to focus the same for EVERY shot, easy or not;
you have to train your emotions to be in check at the table, and to let things go during a session; and
you have to train yourself not to succumb to high stress / high excitement times so that you can perform consistently through all conditions.

You can't simply rely on your arm moving back and forth to play great pool - there's simply too much going on inside your head for that.

Oh, did I mention that nothing can be done without GREAT fundamentals. Every session should have at least 30 minutes of fundamental training. Period. If you ever say "I was in stroke last week, but not today" or some equivalent, odds are that you need to work on fundamentals. If you "dog" shots you are 100% on, then you need to work on the mental game (since that is a sign of poor concentration).

Just my $0.02.

Or just quit until you get better; a friend of mine did that with his golf game and it worked:D

Just what is your deal Dr.? You are constintly complaining about your game. Do you have players in your area that are pretty good that you can learn from? If you are blowing games because of pressure than the pressure is what you need to work on. How far do you live from Ripley County? Maybe we can play a few games sometime.

I think you will start running at home and continue to choke everywhere else.

If you read the book I mentioned to you a couple other times in your threads you wouldnt have to make fake self motivating posts like this... but, continue with your tirade anyway... its amusing :D

IT'S NO FUN WHEN THE RABBIT HAS THE GUN

My question is can you:

1. Run a rack?
2. Can you run five Balls?
3. Can you play defense?
4. Can you think your way through a game? Eight ball, Nine ball, Seven ball, One Pocket.

My point is there is more to the game than running racks, if you can't get out play safe. If you don't face the "Rabbit" (other people) shooting back at you even if you can runout you won't because "PRESSURE BURST PIPES" ask any plumber. Bottom line you need to face competion.

one thing you ARE real consistent with....

getting on this forum almost daily and B*tching about everything. I cant get shape, cant make balls and when those excuses got old you said brunswick engineered your GC4 pockets wrong....

You need to keep practicing and believe it or not, that includes tournaments if you wish to do well in them later. You have to keep up tournament play to be tournament tough.

Say what you will, but I'm right. Keep practicing at home, keep entering into tournaments. When it all comes together you'll be fine. If it doesn't, we can play some cheap sets =)

I have heard it said that pool is called pool because f@#k is taken. If after several months of playing you could get up an run out every rack pool would not be that interesting and everyone could do it.

If pool makes you happy and you have fun with it keep playing and you will improve.

If it is making you miserable quit today, quit this minute. If you are not getting paid major dollars to do it then it is not worth it.

If you have any nice cues you are looking to sale pm me cause I am not quitting.

Do you think the rest of us don't hose up 75% of the runnable racks?

If you aren't willing to throw your money away at tournaments, then you aren't willing to improve. Only under competition circumstances do you know if all the hard work has paid off.

Now get back on that horse.

Good God man, just go out and have some fun.

I'm a solid B on my best day and my favorite tournaments are the ones that are cheap money but still draw the local A players. You ain't getting better in your basement if you aren't going out to do it against better players.

Seriously man, stop the incessant whining about it and either do something about it or give it up. I couldn't imagine playing this game if it made me miserable.

Regards,
Koop
