This just Doesn't Make Sense !

Ok i'm playing a bit of devil's advocate here.

Now we last expected some news on Tuesday, it never came. Ok your KT, you missed the deadline but you know you are this close to getting the deal you want to fix things and regain your reputation. You know things are in the final stages of being sorted out and you are putting signatures to paper on Monday.

Now you can't piss off everyone any more than you already have, so why in blue hell didn't KT wait until Monday when he could have sent the email saying the signatures have been signed instead of saying they are going to be signed.

The difference between Friday and Monday is neglible in the context of things because the last deadline of Tuesday has already not been met so what's a few more days ?

This just doesn't ring right to me.

Of course it does. It sure did stop everyone cold. Nothing anyone can do now but wait. The players all think it is great. They are not going to do anything anyway, so they will wait. The rest of us just don't matter - to KT or the Players. We are all just nits in their minds anyway.

Hey, it is time to realize that it is their party; it is their dream. Let them enjoy it and do what they want to do. Everyone else should just get out of the way.

Sure would have been nice if the naysayers would have done that from the beginning. Perhaps then more players would have signed up for qualifiers and all the players would have been paid for Reno. At least I don't have that on my conscience - that I screwed up things for the IPT players. A lot of you who were not in on the deal can now gloat that no one is in on the deal.

If the players want to boycott someone or something they should boycott those people who were instrumental in hastening the demise of the IPT.

I challenge you again, Jake - prove what you just wrote. Prove that myself and Jay have steered players away from qualifiers. Jay has paid entry for players to compete in the qualifiers. I have helped players prepare for the events. Ask Danny Harriman how much I steered him away and filled his head wth negativity about the IPT. It never happened. So while you're busy blaming everybody else except Kevin Trudeau for the IPT's problems, others will be taking "positive" steps and moving forward. Sorry about bursting your bubble again. ;)

I'll side with David here.

I don't think the critics or doubting Thomases or whatever one would call them are a significant cause of the problems the IPT is facing.

In fact, some of the advice, if heeded might have served the IPT well.

The current problems are the result of not organizing promised payments on time.

If the revenues from qualifiers were much smaller than anticipated as many suspect, then the fault mostly, if not entirely lays at the feet of those who set up and marketed the qualifier system or who made estimations as to the revenues it would bring in.

Most posters here pretty accurately estimated the level of participation that the qualifiers would attract.

Yeah! Our negative thinking actually wished the money right out of KT's "pocket", you know, the only funding source he needed but one short year ago.

Woohoo! Telekinetic, evil negative thinkers! Let's go eat more live kittens....the source of all our evil black magic.

"Profits of Fantasy"

A few months ago I and others were blasted for stating what our heads told or mouths to do. We applied logic and a little healthy cynicism and came up with our opinions about KT and subsequently the future of the IPT. At the time we got a lot of flack. Well a few months later and we all know the rest.

I have to tip my hat to Linda who never got mean spirited when defending her beliefs. Even now I think she is genuine in what she says. The other "Profits of Fantasy" have long now shut up or gotten lost. Of coarse this doesn't apply to a couple of fools...every village has a few idiots.

Now if the next announcement doesn't say...here is your cash...I would suggest sending a body or two to visit Jimmy Hoffa.

Stall tactic to avoid litigation....

This is another stall tactic to avoid any type of court litigation.....since some people on this board alerted KT about possible legal action......which was a dumb thing to do publicly on this board......

Thanks Nick, I try to be. I also believe that there are very few real naysayers on this board. Most are making well-reasoned and deductive arguments against certain ACTIONS of the IPT/management and I actually agree with most of what they say. If I was on the sidelines, I would probably be more proactive in dealing with the situation, rather than taking a hopeful stance.

However, I also try to see the good in everything and everybody. Have I been swindled/been taken advantage of in the past because I wanted to believe the best in that person or persons? Yes! Have I also waited out situations which seemed to be in the toilet and come out on top eventually? Yes again.

Maybe it's a flaw in my personality, but instead of seeing a glass half full or half empty, I usually see the glass brimming over and getting stains on my coffee table, lol. Very optimistic, but fatalistic sometimes as well.

Except for a few posters who seem to stick out in my mind, like Dr. Dissent, Smashmouth and MacGuy, that seem to have their own agendas, I truly think that everyone is as hopeful for the future of pool as I am and has valuable things to say. I will always listen, but for now, I have chosen my own path. I may be alone in that path, but my convictions and loyalty will not allow otherwise...for now. ;)

No one here is forcing any Pros to do or not do anything. My personal belief is even though this incident will have clearly highlighted the moral quality and business sense (or lack thereof) of the IPT the majority of Pro players will continue to play IPT tournaments (assuming they get paid and the scheduled events go ahead) for the simplest of reasons, regardless of what any of us say - It's still the best deal out there at present for the majority of them.

Sorry but this seems like nonsense to me. If you believe what KT has stated publicly then the fees from the qualifiers have nothing to do with his inability to pay Reno. He said he would be happy to pay from his own funds if not for the legal issues surrounding the pending Ho deal. He also stated his plan was to finance the IPT fully at a loss for the first few years to build it into a viable business after the second year.

Now IF this is not true, and IF his business model was to have the tour be self-financing via qualifiers and ancillary income (DVD sales etc.) in the first year, then he should have told everyone this and made it clear the payouts would vary depending on income. It is not the fault of anyone, fans or Pros, that they did not support a business model that they were not aware of. And if they had been aware of it then I'd imagine there would have been far less participation than there has been so far.

Bottom line is he KNEW IN ADVANCE how much the Reno purse would be. He failed to have that prize money ready for the end of Reno. He KNEW IN ADVANCE when the tournament started that there was at least a chance the Ho deal would not be finalized and that the money would not be available, but still let the tournament go ahead. He did not notify the players that the pending deal would mean the possible lack of funds at the end of the tournament.

Who's possible fault is that but KTs? What has that possibly got to do with anyone here or on any other fan forum?

BTW I'm guessing that if there ever is a lawsuit what KT knew when will be the crux of whether this is some kind of fraud or simply lousy business.
