Not sure if this is the right forum or not but here goes.

I happen to be hanging out in a pool hall in jacksonville called Q-ball. And lo and behold Thorsten is shooting at one of the tables. So i go over to watch. He is just hanging out like anyone else shooting pool. It was awesome i mean i got to watch one of the best players in the world just shooting at a local pool hall. I did go up to him after he was done and got a picture. Was a totally nice guy. He asked if i was going to be around the area for a while since im out visiting and i said yeah and he said to drop by the hall again and say hi. Im amazed. Im sure everyone has their heroes in sports... he happens to be one of mine and im ecstatic that it didnt turn out like those times when professional athletes are jerks. Anyways just my two cents about a great meeting with a pro.

Funny story about Thorsten,

A friend of mine was visiting New York city, he was 18 years old or so, and goes into Amsterdam. Spots Thorsten and watches him play for awhile, then Thorsten invites him to play. Thorsten pays the all the time and lets my friend sleep over at his hotel room. How's that for a nice guy?
 
Thorsten used to be a regular poster on here.Look up his name,and u can see some of his posts.
I met him at the bca in vegas,really nice guy.
 
He shot 3 racks with me at Valley Forge a few years back then signed my copy of Eckert's book "Modern Pool"
He is generous and thoughtful
 
Great guy hands down, makes time for everyone and always has a smile on his face. Super generous too, he works hard and deserves everything he achieves.
 
I would have loved to see him play. I've heard nothing, but good things about him.

I watched him set the straight pool high run record. I was scoring the match between Hohmann and Schmidt at the world 14.1 championship. Hohmann ran 24 then Schmidt responded with an 80. John was playing smooth and looked the favorite. Hohmann came out with a 174 and out to win the match. That day it looked like he could have run balls forever. He ripped every rack and yet never lost his cue ball. I'll never forget it, though it is a shame that the match was not recorded. After announcing the win, he thanked John and shook my hand. No undue celibration, just good sportsmanship. Before leaving the table, he signed this cue ball

First time I seen him play was 2005 BCA Enjoypool.com 9 ball championships.In the final it was Thorsten vs Johnny Archer.JA just couldnt get in stroke and Thorsten won 7-0.The added treat was in the womans final it was Allison Fisher vs Karen Corr.Allison came out on top if I remember 7-5.
I sure am going to miss vegas pro-events.:(
 
From what Ive noticed, most pro pool players are very nice people.

This may sound a little bit lame but Ive added a few pros on facebook. Ive sent a couple messages to Raj Hundal and he actually replied.

Another small tidbit, I used to play in this tournament when I was a kid that Adam Smith ran. I played in a tournament last year that he was in and introduced myself, saying I wanted to play him again and that I still sucked! He used to let me get on the hill every time back then.
 
I got a chance to meet Thorsten at the ACS Nationals in Vegas a couple years ago. They had a challenge the pros night and I got to play him on a bar box. I broke dry and he ran out a ridiculously difficult rack of 8 ball like it was free! It happened so fast, he asked me to play again since no one was waiting to play in spite of being told to only play one game.

He was incredibly friendly, pleasant and complimentary of my game. Signed his picture with me and just could not have been nicer. He is a credit to the game in my opinion.

My first time in valley forge was last year and it truly was an eye opening experience. To see that many people flocked to one place for this game was inspiring. As I was walking the expo i came across many many top pros Ralf Souquet, Charlie Williams, John Schmidt, Stefano Pelinga (trick shots) and so many more and every one was more than happy to stop and take a pic. Thorsten just happened to be one of those players and he stood and talked with me for a good ten minutes. In my opinion the man is a straight pool god and probably one of the best ambassadors our sport has ever seen.

I am pleased to say that I've had lots of quality time with Thorsten. Not only is he a fantastic player, a great sport, and a delightful fellow, but he carries and presents himself very similarly to Ralf Souquet. I don't know if it's possible to pay him a greater compliment than that!

I got to talk to Thorsten at the 2008 US Open briefly and he's a really nice guy. I bought an Accu-stats DVD of Thorsten playing Rodney Morris at the 2008 US Open and i've been studying his game and he's definately one of the best players in the world. He makes the game look so easy. Danny Deliberto was one of the commentators on the match and he had nothing but praise for Thorsten.

He's my favorite player, for a bunch of reasons but mainly because of his awesome straight pool game. I got some Accu-Stats DVDs of his matches for Christmas, including the player review of his 149 ball run, and they're great. They got a little sidetracked with storytelling on the player review but he explained some of the tricky situations and what he was thinking.

If anyone has some good hi-res pictures of him, this would be great time to show them off. I've actually been looking for some to hang in my pool room!!

A couple years ago, we had a straight pool qualifier and warmup in Maryland. I was able to watch Thorsten and Mika play. They both hit the break shots at warp speed! Here's a pic of the final 16 that made it to Sunday. That's me left of Thorsten.
