Thoughts on Longoni cues?

Seeing a lot of Europeans switching from Predator to Longoni .. Seemingly the "next best thing" in Pool over here.

For Carom they are simply the best IMO, not even close. But a pool cue is not a carom cue of course :)

Anyone ever used one? Is it really that good? Players I've talked to claim the Longoni S3 shaft has 0 deflection, miles ahead of anything predator ever made .. Seems a bit exaggerated obviously, but wanted to know if anyone here has any experience with Longoni.

Tnx

The Longoni cues I have seen, have had quality issues.
The proprietary VP2 pin makes trying other shafts than Longoni's own allmost impossible and the shafts are nothing special.
I don't know where you have the "zero deflection" claim from, but it's wrong.
I also find Longoni difficult as a company to deal with,I have conntacted them on a few occasions and the replies have been quite rude and certainly not customer oriented.

I can't speak to their quality or comparison to other cues but I can tell you that no shaft including Longoni has ever had or ever will have zero deflection or even really close to it for that matter because it is literally impossible. Yes it is very possible for a shaft to have significantly less deflection than some other shafts, but none of them are anywhere close to zero and anybody who thinks theirs is just isn't realizing that they are simply subconsciously adjusting for the still fairly significant deflection theirs has (albeit much less than they may have to do with some other shafts).

Ah...physics.

I am waiting for someone to claim a shaft has less than zero deflection......that will be entertaining to read.

Agree with you, Doc. That would be a shaft that would initially send the cue ball toward the direction of the english applied, rather than varying degrees of the opposite. And if that can be done, I would buy some stock in that product. And, arguments would ensue.

All the best,
WW

Never played with a Longoni Pool Cue.
I will say that they've been in business long enough and have sponsored hundreds of player that are very picky with what they want in a cue. These very picky players have taught them many things over the years. There's stories of certain WC players going through 150 shafts to pick 3. You gotta know Longoni took a second and third look at those. This is one of the benefits of sponsoring Top Players. Finding out what they like and why.

I no longer play with a Longoni but the nice thing about Longoni is you can pick say a 4Star butt and fit it with any shaft geometry or type you want.

Instead of all these companies claiming that they have zero deflection, they should list their shaft's natural pivot point. Back hand English players would benefit from this information because they can get the shaft that matches their bridge length. Predator for example lists their natural pivot point around 12 inches. This means those of us who use low deflection shafts have to implement parallel English for the natural bridge length is pretty long.

As a (former) Carom player, I still play with a Longoni carom cue + longer shaft. Absolutely not an LD shaft.

Never got the thing of these LD shafts .. Do they really help? If i see the prices of some of them, that's almost the price of a decent cue you're paying.

Has anyone ever played with the Longoni S2 or S3 Pool shaft? .. The Longoni Carom shafts I own still have loads of deflection tbh
