Thoughts On This Shot

how do you posters prefer to play this shot? for now, lets not worry about where any other balls are, just concentrate on getting position on the '6' Ball.

would you hit it about 6:00, and try the slow/drag shot and end up around Point B? if you just pocket the '5' Ball and go across table you end up around Point A - which is not ideal on the '6' Ball. perhaps you might put a half tip of outside/left english on the cue ball and try and come across table to pocket the '6' Ball in the same pocket?

anyway, i had this shot earlier today, and i tried the slow/drag shot, and undercut the '5' Ball and missed. just wondering how you posters might play this shot?

DCP, you need to plan at least 3 balls ahead. So the answer to your question on how to best play the 5 and 6 does depend on where the other balls are located.

I kill this shot by hitting it with draw. The main thing is not to baby the shot or you'll miss it. The cue ball should come cleanly off the rail and roughly straight in on the six with position B or with a little more angle.

Pretend the 5 is black and the 6 is white with a yellow stripe.

Personally, I like to try to get inside the triangle in this WEI example:

The reason is you're going out from the tip of the triangle, giving yourself plenty of room for error. Just don't hit it hard enough to hit the 2nd rail and the scratch is not even a consideration.

I would use a little low and drag it off of the rail for the 5 in the bottom right.
