Scalloped Cap??

I LOVE the scalloped cap look...

I thought that was Tony's signature? What does he think?

Nice cues

Sly, Nice work. I love the Bacote sneaky in the middle. I love the butt cap on it. Nice touch.

Chris:smile:

That is Tonys design. I will say this on sly.

Sly called me some 2+ years ago now when he knew I was at Tonys. He asked Tony if he could make this butt cap. Tony said yes, he will never make it like mine, how I do it, and I wanna see it when he does one.

The one for sale in cue gallery and the ones posted by Mr. Sly are first ones I've seen. Took him some time I guess to do it. I think they look good because I like BB cues and their design. However I can tell the are slightly different than Tonys design/ how they are made. I'm gonna leave my honest opinion on this out of it as it's none of business I guess

I love these cues.

Awsome style for a sneaky style cue. Just wondering when we became a deer hunting forum.

Similar to a great chef giving out the recipe to a signature dish. The chef knows there's no way it will turn out exactly like his.

Exactly

Exactly very "few" can do what Tony and Donnie can. Although many have tried, it's still not or never will be the same. If I recall from years ago it took a very long time to make that cap, & when he makes one it takes several hours to do almost a full days work he said if I recall it was like 8hrs but who knows or who cares it's a bad ass signature of Tony's cues

THANKS Steve for clearing things up a bit..i"ve seen this design from a few other makers also...mine is done as a half tiffany arc diamond inlay with a ring at the back way different from the BB style way different in the way the parts are machined.

On design

Everything that can be designed is always mimicked.
Buildings, automobiles, cell phones, clothing, etc. It's
flattery in its sincerest form and to take offense to
it is ignorant. You see something appealing, it is only
natural to try and recreate it if you think you can
can. Or maybe you can do it better? I have done this
in web design, experimentally. When I would try to
reinvent something neat that I saw on another web
site, I always learned new things along the way.
Nothing wrong with that.

I think the cues look great and you should be proud
of the accomplishment

Since I own one from Sly and a few from Tony I'll tell you they may look similar but are nothing alike. They both have unique caricature and style. For the money you can't beat a Sly IMHO. The bocote is awesome.
