I would like to share an article about her win in Florida (no one managed to get more than 5 games from her in the whole tournament!)

I think she is playing really well these days, and I want to wish her all the best. May she make a few ESPN rounds in her WPBA events this year!

Tiffany Nelson Storms Spirit Tour Field
By J.A. Barnes

Thirty-four ladies filled the Diamonds at Baron's Billiards in Bradenton, Florida for the Ladies Spirit Tour's third stop of the season, March 25th and 26th, 2006. The energy ran high and opportunity was on the line as two qualifiers, one donated by LTLUniverse.com and one by Baron's Billiards, were up for grabs to the two highest-placed amateurs.

First-round upsets put tour-leaders Tracie Hines and Jeannie Seaver on the one-loss side out of the gate, placing some of the tour's fiercest competitors on both sides of the board. There was still plenty of top competition left on the winner's side with WPBA touring pros Kim Shaw and Tiffany Nelson making a mark, along with a determined Charlotte Sørenson, who has been on a qualifier quest this season. Shaw and Sørenson collided in the fourth round, taking it all the way to the hill with Sorenson edging out Shaw to win the match 7-6. Shaw joined the ranks on the B-side and was nudged by Debbie Schjodt 7-5 before chalking up a 7-1 win over Stephanie Mitchell and a closeout over Niki Rasmussen.

Back on the winner's side Tiffany Nelson was stunning all opponents in her path, posting match wins with landslide scores of 7-0, 7-0, 7-1 and 7-2, before reaching the hot seat match where she would face Sørenson. Sørenson was able to get the most games on Nelson of anyone so far but fell short of the mark as Nelson hammered out a 7-5 win securing her spot in the finals.

Shaw was still cutting a path through the B-side when she met a tough match in Tracie Hines who had been dominating her bracket after her first-round loss. Hines and Shaw went head to head and neared the end of their battle with 6 games apiece. Shaw was the one to catch the advantage in the final game to win 7-6 allowing her to advance to the semifinals to meet Sørenson. With a narrow hill-hill win in her rearview mirror, Shaw still had another tough battle ahead of her to make it through to the finals. Sørenson and Shaw put on a pressure-packed match for the crowd, taking it down to the wire 6-6. Shaw again kept control and seized the one-game opportunity winning the match 7-6.

It wasn't all a loss for Sørenson though as she secured her choice of the two qualifiers with her third-place finish. Sørenson chose the BCA EnjoyPool.com Qualifier for Las Vegas. The second qualifier, a player's pass into the WPBA's San Diego Classic, was to be awarded to the winner of a playoff between 5th/6thplace; Leslee Davis Blaikee against Niki Rasmussen. Blaikee secured the win of the race-to-7 tie-breaker and was awarded her second qualifier of the season.

Back on the main stage, Nelson was rested up by the time Shaw reached the finals and Nelson jumped out to a fast start, leading 6-1 in the race to 7. Shaw mounted a comeback, tightening the score to 6-4 with two break and runs but a scratch on the 8-ball sealed her fate and Nelson took top honors with a 7-4 win.

Good article however the Spirit Tour continues irritate my pet peeve. Incorrect spelling of player names.

It is Charlotte Sorensen. She is from Denmark. They don't have 'sons' there. I know it aggravates her a little too.

Also a big congrats to Charlotte who has flown back and forth from Denmark to Florida (the toughest tour IMHO) at least 4 times in her quest for the Q'r. Way to go!

Yes, Charlotte also had a nice finish in the Women's World Championship. I remember she beat Rubilen Amit in the knock out stage.

I agree this is the toughest tour for the ladies. There are usually at least three or four WPBA touring pros such as Tiffany, Kim, Jeannie, Debbie, and Tracie, just to name a few, playing in this tournament. It is a feat to not only win the tournament but never let anyone score more than 5 games.

I know Tiffany Nelson really works on her game, and I just feel so happy for her.

Tiffany, great player i love her technique.

Yes, I think she has very nice fundamental.

I had the pleasure of having a brief conversation with her, and she said she had really worked on her game. She told me she had tried to have a shorter stroke. I could be wrong but I think she meant she used to have a longer stroke but she is now working on controlling her stroke with a shorter backswing. Anyway, no matter what it is, it is definitely working for her, as she really does not miss much at all.

I've watched Tiffany play for twelve years now. She always had game, but I believe that the key to her breakout year in 2005, the first in which she cracked the top ten in the WPBA rankings, was greatly improved safety play.

Always having a powerful break and quite capable when it came to running the table, Tiffany has now emerged as one of the tour's top strategists. Tiffany is doing a better job of beating opponents to the shot than she ever has before, and it is showing up in the win column.

I really like her game and the way she keeps her stroke under control. Very slow back stroke with no rushing and straight through the ball. The BCA instructors have to love her!

in 2005 i have a tape of her playing Allison for the Championship i think it was she played very well but Allison didn't let her have that much time at the table as i think the score was something like 7-1 or 7-2 something like that i have to view the tape again but her game look'd very solid and man she can break the balls hard.

If you like her break, you can go to her web site and watch a frame by frame pictures of her break.

You can also watch her break video here.

SJM:
I have never paid much attention to her safty games but I will start to pay attention.

Gerald:
Yes, I personally think Tiffany has a very controlled cueing action, which is very smooth and precise. I notice she also keeps her elbow up. I like her stroke, and her rhythm around the table.

Tiffany is a class act all the way. Cordial with fans, Tiffany is an intelligent young lady who is a credit to the WPBA.

And wow, what a break. She absolutely explodes those balls. In the last couple of years, she has modified her stance and really elevated her game.

The WPBA continues to grow and improve in each succeding year. I for one would like to see a few more tournaments for these players each year. Maybe sixteen to twenty four events and they will have a full calendar.

Perhaps a second tier of tournaments that are not all televised, similar to what they do with professional tennis.

From what I have observed, when she wins, she is very modest; when she loses, she still tries to keep a smile on her face.

I am very impressed by her recent improvement but more so by her professional attitude.
