In the last year i had a few customers asking for these tips, lately I'm finding them soft and spongy. Has anyone else see the fall in quality in the Tiger Emerald Laminated Cue Tips. Also what do you guys think of them. TY Frank
 
My customers like them a lot. I like them as well, though I'm currently shooting with a Moori MS that I think I like tad better - can't really say what the difference is.

I have not noticed the new one's being spongy, but my customer base is quite small, so I'm still using my original order.

No i didn't press them, the first 4or 5 orders they were good. maybe i should press the spongy one i guess
 
iv not got to try the green ones. i love the sniper. whats a firm but not hard tip that holds chalk and mushrooms little to none? the sniper is the closest thing i can find. but even it gets one good mushroom you gotta cut off.

I made myself a massa cue and put these tip on and i am still beating it in to table. When put them on it must be burnished good or they will be sponge i took me 3 till i got it right 3rd one has be on cue for year now

I have been told that a layered tip should not be burnished like a non layered tip. Someone enlighten us. cribbeecues
 
Burnish very lightly if at all. I don't think pressing them is recommended either!
 
I installed around 25 of them and no problem, its just this new batch. I just ordered another batch to compare.

The people at Tiger are awesome to do business with, if you got some bad tips, let them know, and they'll probably straighten it out!
I've had really good luck with their products, they strive for quality.
 
Pressing

I use a picone tip press to lightly with the flat end. They are maybe a 1/2 mm shorter out of the press. There is plenty of action left in them after the press. It eliminates the spongy feel and slight mushroom. I have installed about 12, only the first few without pressing, and they came back right away. None since. I know its a small sample, and I might be violating tip laws, but it works for me.
