The Onyx tip IS a Sniper tip. Hand selected and aged longer! Personally I'll just stick with the Sniper!

I love Sniper tips...haven't tried any other Tiger tips.
..gonna try an Onyx now because of your post.

thanx....pt

The Tiger site says that the Onyx starts out as an ordinary Sniper, and they do something to it that takes time, but eventually turns it black.

I've installed Snipers for others, and have a Onyx on one of my shafts.

To me,the only difference is in appearance.

It's a well-made product,and many like both of them.

This is just my opinion, and I'm not bashing the company at all,but as far as personal feel, they're junk compared to the Kamui Black. Tommy D.

I'ved used all of the above mentioned tips.

Kamui Black Medium: it felt ok. Nothing special.

Tiger Emerald: nothing special. Felt pretty "meh".

Tiger Sniper: felt good. Would use one again.

Tiger Onyx: I've been using it for almost 2 months now.....and unless they invent a tip made from unicorn hide.....I'll be using Onyx on my player till the end of time.

It flat feels great. Now, with that said, I'm also using it on a brand new custom cue. However, this tip has a pleasant sound upon contact and it hold chalk better than any tip I've ever had. It took 2 months before I ever even miscued enough to warrant an ever-so-light scuff. I'm hitting further off-center than I ever have and I'm getting pleeeenty of English. I'm also shooting consistently better than ever have in my life. Most of that is due to an adjustment I've made in my stroke, but using this tip has also given me a lot of confidence. And no, I don't work for Tiger.

I've had several people hit with my cue and the first thing they do is to look at the tip and make a positive comment on it. I'd say within the next few months, I'll have several shooting buddies with an Onxy.

If loving a Tiger Onyx is wrong......I don't wanna be right.

It's a great tip! I'm just not willing to pay an additional $10/tip over the Sniper. Since all my cues are Sniper tipped...it would be expensive!

I love it and will put it on all cues as they need to be changed. Definitely my favorite tip. The only other Tiger tip I have used is the everest, which I also like, but I prefer the Onyx overall.

its a pretty nice tip and my favorite! i use one on my ob classic with a pad. I also used a sniper tip which is also a nice tip and would rank that #2.

Onyx Tip

I have used Sniper tips for the past 4 years, or so. And I will say it is a fabulous tip--soft feel, grips amazingly well, yet the tip is firm and holds its shape.

So then I tried an Onyx. Well, the first time I used it, I was surprised by the hit. Much harder than a Sniper. Yet it holds chalk very well and shapes beautifully. Now I've had it on two of my shafts for about 6 months.

Compare Sniper and Onyx? The Sniper was the best tip I'd used until Onyx. I like the Onyx tip better, mostly because of the hit and the solid sound it makes on impact. It's hard to say much about it because it does everything well. Nothing stands out so much because nothing is lacking. The hit reminds me of a good Le Pro. However, the Onyx is a much more user friendly tip.

thats weird you say that cuz the rating on the onyx's are softer than the snipers....

sniper: Mueller Durometer (Type B/C): 77-80
onyx: Mueller Durometer (Type B/C): 73-76

i wonder if the aging process causes it to feel softer even tho its actually a harder tip.... hmmmm

really wish I waited to put an onyx on instead of going right for the sniper. lol
