Congrats CeCe!!!! It was very nice to meet you at the last Hagerstown event. I know the new owners (Roger & Tammy Munson) and the rest of us associated with the Hagerstown room are glad to have the Tiger Tour back in Hagerstown and we are all really looking forward to several events planned!!! Best of luck to Nick also... We only met once but he seems like a real quality individual. Happy Holidays , Ron

I'm sorry to say, we are all going to have to live with some conflicts during the year.

Conflicts are tough on both the tours and the players, no doubt about it. Best to look on the bright of things... it's better to have enough opportunities out there and be able to pick and choose than it is to be sitting at home wishing for said opportunities and there not be any.

I tip my hat to all the regional TD's... Barbara, Ceci, Andy, Mike Janis, Mike Zuglan, and the slew of others out there that give up their weekends (some have kids and full time jobs during the week) and travel out of town to run tournaments. Kudos and thanks to all of you.

Maybe it will work after my divorce.

You still seem to be implying that all three of these tours can pick and choose whatever dates they wish. I know for a fact that, in at least some cases, they are at the mercy of the room owners and when they would like the tournaments.
If a room owner wants a tournament on a weekend that conflicts with the other tours, there is not much you can do. It would be nice if one tour could take the first weekend of the month, another tour take the second weekend and the other tour take the third, but that is not going to work all of the time.
No matter how hard these people try, or how courtious they are, there are going to be conflicts. If two tours are both offered the same weekend by room owners, all of the courteous phone calls in the world are not going to make the conflict disapear. I'm sorry to say, we are all going to have to live with some conflicts during the year.

Actually Rich, I am not implying that at all. The tours, although not published, generally do have an idea of the dates they are attempting to secure for the next year. I am aware of the process of setting up an event and I do know that the room owners hold the master key. My initial thought remains, if the three tours got together (in this area) and coordinated at least on some level, it could help build all of them. I know that not all events can avoid conflicting, BUT the more that are not, the better attendance for everyone involved.

Believe me when I say, coordnation between all of the tours would be an ideal situation. However, with all of the factors involved, I'm not sure how practical it is.

At the beginning of the year, I'm guessing that the TD's try to target the best dates for themselves. Maybe it would be more accurate to say, they are marking dates when they can not possibly run a tournament. Let's not forget, they have lives too.

After that, the TD's are constantly negotiating with room owners to get them to sponsor tournaments. I believe the room owners will always have the last say in when the tournament takes place. Yes, after reaching an agreement, the TD can call the other TD's, but what happens if the other TD's are in negotiations for the same weekend? Which tour, if any, should get preference?

This is a very tricky business and all of the TD's have to tread lightly. First they are, in effect, begging owners to give up their normal business for a weekend and then to donate some prize money. The owners know they will get very little in return. At the very least, they should be allowed to pic the best date for them.

I think, in the end, we both just want some good regional tours, which we have. We are much luckier than some other parts of the country. However, because we are so lucky, we will have to live with some conflicts, throughout the year.

Don't forget, conflicting tournamets tend to spread the talent a little thin, which in turn, gives some other players a chance to win. There is a good side to the conflicts.

Thank you for your comments. I understand your thought process on this issue and understand how difficult it is to secure a venue for a regional tour - it does not negate the fact that communication between the tours would be a good step in the right direction. I hope all three tours will make that extra effort for the players that want to participate and support them. Take care.
