Tiger Tour - Thank you Nick...

Timberly mentioned this off handidly in a thread last weekend. It's now official and has been announced directly to our players. We just finished our last event of the year, and as some of you had heard - my business partner Nick Prinsloo was thinking about leaving the tour (he wants his weekends back) ;) The sad news is tonight was Nick's last night as Owner and Executive Director.

I wanted to publicly thank Nick for everything he's done to make the tour what it is today. He has sacrificed long hours and more weekends than any of us can count. His undaunting perfectionism (I say that with much love) has made the tour stronger than ever. He'll be back to play in a few events next year...so please please please make sure you take a moment to thank him for everything he's done for us.

My good news, I have officially taken over Planet Pool and The Tiger Tour as the new owner...:D I'm really looking forward to my first year, I have some pretty big shoes to fill...but I'm up for the challenge!

Andy Lincoln is staying with us as Director/Resident Genius (and I expect he'll be fighting pretty hard for the points next year after last weekend's showing). I couldn't do anything without Andy!

Thanks again everyone - and I look forward to seeing you all next season!! Our new schedule should be up on the web in two - three weeks!

Looking forward to the upcoming schedule for the tour! :)

When I read that there were congratulations in order, earlier this week, for NineballCC, I was wondering what it could be. I have not been out and about in recent times, and so a stray thought did run across my mind that you, NineballCC, and your hubby might be expecting; a baby, that is. :o

We are very lucky in the D.C. metro area to have a regional tour of this size. Keep up the good work. From what I have been reading, the Tiger Tour keeps getting bigger and better. I know how much dedication and hard work it takes to pull it off, and I wish all of you, including Nick, continued success in your future endeavors! :)

My wife and I have been fans of the Planet Pool Tour for quite some time and we have seen it go through a number of changes, all for the better.

Nick deserves a big thank you from all of the players and fans who have enjoyed this tour. He has done a great job.

Also, congratulations to Ceci, as the new owner.
We look forward to the continued success of the tour.

Hi,

Congrat on your new ownership of the tour. I am sure more wonderful things are going to come, and I would like to wish you lots of success.

I would also like to thank you for including me as one of your tour sponsors. It has been a real pleasure being associated with a successful tour such as the Tiger Planet Tour.

Most importantly, it has been a real delight getting to know you and all the wonderful players on your tour such as Josh and Pamela.

For anyone looking to gain exposure through sponsoring regional tours, I would wholeheartedly recommend working with CC. Our web site has been getting lots of traffic from her web site, and we have received lots of orders from players from Maryland.

In closing, I would like to thank CC, Nick and all the staff at Tiger Planet Tour for the all the wonderful exposure they have given us.:)

Have a happy holiday seasons,
Richard

Congratulations Ceci!! It's great to hear that even though Nick is stepping down, the tour will continue to be in great hands.

And a big thanks to Nick for all his hard work. I have enjoyed playing the Tiger events and look forward to making more of them next year.

Nick, I hope you enjoy your freedom... I'm sure quite a bit will be spent in Atlantic City. :p I hope you end up doing as planned and play in some events next yr...dinner just won't be the same without you there to make us laugh! ;)

Ceci, congrats on taking over and thanks to you & Andy for deciding to keep things going. The Tiger Tour really is one of the best out there. Between you guys and the great group of regular tour players.... The Tiger Tour events are truly a great time for railbirds like me.

Looking forward to next season!

Hi Ceci. It is interesting that this thread came up because I was going to email you. It appears that the Tiger Tour started having WPBA qualifiers. As a regional player in this area, I am curious to know if you intend to work with the other two northeast women's regional tours to work out a schedule in 2007 so that more players can attend your events and not have them conflict with the existing (as the last two events have, if I recall correctly)? Also, I have not seen any advertisement for your most recent events, do you plan advanced notification of future events?

Thanks, 9balllvr

Best of luck to Nick for his future endeavors. I hope to see him on the televised WSOP one day! Congrats to Ceci and Andy for the seamless transition of ownership.

Although Ceci normally posts a notification of their tournaments, in the tournament announcement section of this forum, you can also go to the Tiger Planet Pool Tour web site and register to receive their Tournament Announcements via email. You will also be able to check the entire schedule.

Tony and I wish you well in your future endeavors!

thanks Rich - I have been to the site, but have not seen where to be added to the email announcements - I will take another look. now the only question is whether or not the events will conflict with other regional tour qualifiers.......

IIRC, the link to sign up for the tournament notifications is in the left hand margin, below the list of links for tour results.

As for conflicts, I can't help you there. However, you have to be aware that the tournament dates are not always set by the tours. The rooms have a lot of things going on and they tell the tours what dates they have open. It can be difficult to avoid conflicts and, unfortunately, players are forced to pick and choose which tournaments to play in.

Congratz and hope the best of luck to you. I've noticed that the tour is mainly the NorthEast coast. Any plans on extending to the SouthEast region? Never been on tour of course, but definitely like to see events of tours to get a feel of what they are like, and meet the players.

Thank you for your interest 9ballvr. As for next year's schedule we have taken into consideration events posted by Viking, Joss, Blaze and Newt. For the ladies events - Newt has only posted one event, Feb 10th-11th. We have scheduled around that event and posted our Season Opener for Feb 17th-18th. We do our best to work around everyone, our ladies events are on Sundays only - with the exception of one or two special ladies events every year. My best suggestion to you when there is a schedule conflict - play with Newt on Saturday - if you are knocked out - come on down. We start on Sundays at 11 am. We will have the full schedule posted by January 15th. Please keep your eye out - and as RichR suggested - go ahead and sign up for e-mails. Hope to see you at the opener.

I would also like to add, it is not always the Tiger Planet Pool Tour that creates the conflicts. They usually have their dates set early in the year. In many cases, it is the other tours that create the conflicts when they schedule their events.

Hi Tigerallenyim -
We are looking for more rooms in VA - that is where I live. There is quite a big gap between the VA & NC line that we are trying to fill with more events. With some special ladies events and the regular tour season - I currently have 19 weekend dates on the calendar. I'll have my hands full next season.
If you'd like to try a tour, I believe Kings Bay Promotions (KBP) has some South Carolina and North Carolina - you should check out their calendar on AZbilliards Tours - they have both Amateur and Open events. Viking has also been hosting a couple of events in the S.East. We are currently mid-atlantic.
Thanks for your interest - sign up for e-mails and you'll get the calendar as soon as we send it out!

Nick, you were great. Even though I wasn't a regular, when I did get there once in a while you always made me feel like I was one of the crowd. You even left me bastardize my planet pool shirt with a cigarette pocket.:D Thanks for everything and best wishes.

Ceci
Congratulations! I know I say this every year, next year I plan on being at more events. Maybe it will work after my divorce.

See you then

I think you have to take into account that there are two other women's regional tours in the same area that offer WPBA qualifiers that are established in doing so and that it is in the best interest of all of the tours to coordinate to get the best turnouts. The thought was to simply put in a call to both Bonnie Saritelli (McDermott) and Barbara Stock (JPNEWT) prior to firming up schedules - it is a courtesy thing.

You still seem to be implying that all three of these tours can pick and choose whatever dates they wish. I know for a fact that, in at least some cases, they are at the mercy of the room owners and when they would like the tournaments.
If a room owner wants a tournament on a weekend that conflicts with the other tours, there is not much you can do. It would be nice if one tour could take the first weekend of the month, another tour take the second weekend and the other tour take the third, but that is not going to work all of the time.
No matter how hard these people try, or how courtious they are, there are going to be conflicts. If two tours are both offered the same weekend by room owners, all of the courteous phone calls in the world are not going to make the conflict disapear. I'm sorry to say, we are all going to have to live with some conflicts during the year.
