how is a standard everest tip on a predator shaft compared to a kamui black ss? in terms of hit and feel? Its time for a new tip on one of my cues and I want to try a kamui, it seems that the SS gets the best reviews.

Go with a black Kamui soft. The Everest in my opinion is more of a medium hard tip.

I have both & the Kamui feels much softer on my OB Classic. When new & @ full thickness it felt like the cue ball was actually sticking to the tip. As suggested I removed several layers & it is playing fine now. The OB has, to me, a more solid hit than the 314 Cat.

So, I have apples & oranges. I think different tips hit differently on different shafts. I have always played soft tips so I like the Kamui better.

Hope this helps some.

Regards, &

IMO, a Tiger Everest tip plays closely to what a brown Kamui medium does, and I have used both of these on the same shaft.

I have not yet tried a Kamui SS tip, but FWIW I find the Kamui medium tips to play a little bit harder than all other "medium" rated tips I have tried. I will have to try their SS tips out for myself as I prefer a true "medium" tip.

I am neither a fan of the Everest tip (glazes over too quickly) nor the black Kamui (plays harder than advertised), but maybe going to a SS Kamui will change my mind.

played with both. the everest plays great but it does start glazing after a while. the kamui black SS is soooo soft. again, had to remove about 1/3 of it and then it played awesome and still does with no glazing over. so i recommend a kamui black soft.

hopefully, it plays well without having to remove any layers. but you could get the kamui black super soft, and keep taking a little off until you get it right. either way, get the kamui. awesome tip.

You should try an ultra skin soft i think they play just as good or better played with both before

I hate the Kaumi Black tips.
I know that I am one of the few who feels this way.
They glaze over too much and the soft and the super soft feel like there is a rubber band between the tip and the ferrule.

The only one I might ever consider again would be a medium because that elastic feeling is not as prevalent.

That is why you hear every cutting these down once they put them on their shaft. They have that rubber band feeling until you cut the thing down and take 1/3 of a 1/2 off. They just don't feel right.

i used kamui ss for a while
played great was able to generate alot of spin when needed
what i didnt like was that it mushroomed alot on me
ive switched to kamui black medium
need to stroke better for the same amout of spin but no mushrooming so far
