We now have a new tip that we developped especially for 3 cushion. It's a medium hard laminated tip with 5 layers of pigskin. Take a look on my website in the accessories section for more informations.

The best players are using a Medium Moorie, I have worked at a couple of US National Tournaments, and a World Tournament. I have replaced tips for some of the top players and that is what they were using.

walt harris has some good info on his site....

http://www.billiardsatlas.com/atlas.html

During the 2001 Las Vegas World Cup, many of the world?s best 3-C
player?s were surveyed on what cue tips they use, along with other
cue data.

It seems that most Belgium players stayed with tradition, which is to
use a smaller tip size, while most other top players use tip sizes bet-
ween 11.5 and 12.0 mm.

Name Tip Size
mm Tip
Make Type Shaft type
Bitalis 11.4 Mori Hard Extra Stiff
Blomdahl 12.0 Mori Medium Varies with table
Ceulemans 12.0 Triangle Medium Stiff
DeBacker 11.6 Mori Medium Medium Stiff
Dielis 9.5 Chandivert Hard Stiff
Habraken 11.0 LePro Medium Stiff
Jaspers 11.7 Mori Medium Stiff
Leppens 10.5 Mori Medium Extra Stiff
Piedrabuena 12.0 Mori Medium Medium Stiff
Sang Lee 12.0 Mori Medium Medium Stiff
Sayginer 12.0 Mori Medium Stiff
Theriaga 12.0 Mori Medium Stiff
Sanetti 12.0 Chandivert Medium Medium Stiff

While all were quizzed on their tip size and shaft configuration selections, Dick
Jaspers summed up this subject best by stating that the 12 mm size was best for
power shots, while the 11.5 size handled cue ball spin best---an 11.7 mm tip was
his selection.

Im thinking of trying out 11mm tip. I saw a cue on ebay and it looks awesome But the shaft has the male connection right? and the butt is the female?

In general yes, but not necessary all have that kind of joint.
I know 3-C cues might be difficult to find, but I highly recommand you test out some cues in person before purchase. In any case, you can try to attend a billiard tournament and pick up a cue there from a vender or a cuemaker.

I've been playing now for well over a year, and I've just switched from a standard tip to a layered tip, (a Moori medium) and it really does seem to impart spin on the ball with greater ease. I would be curious to know what kind of tip shape the professional players use. My tip was installed with a dime shape, and it seems to work really well... at least when I can manage to do my part, which isn't nearly often enough!

i have 3 shafts for my carom cue so I decided to try a basic lepro on the backup shaft, a moori medium on my main playing shaft and a moori hard on the second shaft. Ill report my findings

just for the record my mezz told me it dont care what tip you play with................your still gonna get drilled. I'll bring my camera and we can tape match and put it on you tube. We can call it Waldos World episode 1...lol

your mezz told you that? did your mezz also say it was just fiber? you might want to cut back on the meds.

Just wished to know if the carom players have any new thoughts on their preference of the tip for carom these days? I am also interested if anyone has tried the wizard tips on a carom cue?

Hi 3Cplayer, actually I'm in France at this time so you can buy them from me, or I do have a dealer in Germany, his name is Sven Daske (a top libre Game player), that could make you try them. But he lives in Hamburg. If you want his coordonnates I'll send them to you by e-mail.
