TIP for Sellers! Avoid a Nightmare...

Just a heads-up, to all of the fine folks that patronize this Forum...
I, recently sold a few items here on AZB, and after making a deal and securing payment through PayPal, I went to box up the items that were sold, and found them GONE!
After a brief search and investigation, I determined that they were stolen right out of my home, by a family member.
A police report, a check of the local pawn shops, and a moderate expense, later, secured the items back to my possession, and were promptly forwarded to their new owner. But, it could have been much worse. I was one of the lucky ones.

So, please, properly secure your property, and check on it, regularly!

In this day and age, kids will take anything that isn't bolted down, to fund their 'habits'. I never expected this, and hopefully my lesson and subsequent warnings, will prevent one of you good people from dealing with the nightmare and royal PITA that I, and my buyer, just went through...

Peace and good fortune to you.

Bill

p.s. the gentleman that bought these items, was the most caring and understanding person that I have dealt with, in a long time. A true credit to AZB, and now a good friend to me. His exemplary attitude and concern for my problem, was a blessing. Especially considering the fact that he was an innocent injured party.
I truly thank you Paul, and wish you and yours the best that life can give !

These aren't the TIPS I was looking for....

This has NOTHING to do with Seller Tips.

It has EVERYTHING to do with your effed up family.

I don't get it either.Maybe this belongs in the main forum,or Dr. Phil. I am sympathetic for the Dad that has the kid with the bad habit, but secure the freakin kid,and then there is no worry regarding your goodies.Best of luck Dad.

Wow... Even if this is your opinion why post it?

Didn't your mother ever tell you that old saying... If you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all?

Yeah...I didn't get into the details of MY family, because it is simply none of YOUR business.
I just wanted to relay something that caught me completely by surprise, in the attempt to prevent it from happening to someone else...

I'll overlook your expert opinion, and maintain my belief that AZB has some of the best folks on the planet, as members, regardless...

I'm sure your family is the model of perfection, and I await your reality television show, admonishing all of us "effed" up folks, and schooling us all proper, on child-rearing...

LOL, Yep to live in a perfect world! I always chech out what I plan to sell before listing it ,Not that I think it could be missing but to see it is still in the same condition I remember it to be...

Bill at Cornerstone can maybe tell it better than me

but he gets a call from a guy offering him some cues.....and Bill says....hey....one of those cues I bought and sold a year ago

and the guy sez....no way its right here in my safe

and Bill sez.....did you look ?

and the guy looks and ...of course...the cue is gone........

guy sez....how could this happen only one other guy ever knew the combination...

Bill sez .....well hummmmmmmm

here's the best part......Bill sez.......if the cue is stolen....and if you will file a police report and charges against the guy......I'll buy the cue back and take the loss

the guy sez I don't want to file on the guy.......how about you just sell this huge Gus for me out of the safe

WOW...Three fouls with one shot, minus 18 points and take a seat.

Way out of line with that post. One kid screwing up doesn't make for an effed up family.

If judgement, based on guesses, limited information and assumption, were a foul here at AZ Billiards, the post count would go down 80%.

Wow! As usual, folks misinterpret the written word as criticism or judgement instead of humor.

Can't instill inflection on screen.

My point was (and is) that the OP's post is really not about Sellers Tips or even pool, as advertised.

We all experience familial challenges from time to time. But if my nephew "borrows" money from my wallet, I ain't calling the bank.....or police.... and I'm sure as heck not going to post it on a FINANCIAL FORUM!!

To the OP - you made it my business when you created a thread about your family on a public forum. That's really what your thread was about, right??
You wrapped this in a Sellers Tips foil, but it's still all about your family, not pool.

So again, your post was about a family member stealing a cue from you. That's not effed up?? Wow. OK.

I stand corrected. My bad.....

He's kind of taken back by what happened and he's CLEARLY frustrated.

He may be looking for empathetic messages from other parents going through a struggle similar or that have already gone through this.

We do irrational things when we're frustrated. Was this the right forum? No. Was this really a common thing for sellers to look for? Not really.

But reminding him about how his family is 'effed up' isn't really a great statement for right now.

I see you have never dealt with the disease called addiction. Sometimes it affects those closest to you and you have no control over it. Sounds like this man might be dealing with just that. Saying he effed up his family without even knowing the situation is kinda effed up to me. My sig is very fitting sometimes. Then again, you are indeed entitled to your opinion and maybe i'm wrong...maybe you do know his situation in which case I apologize, still harsh though. To tho OP...glad it worked out and good luck.

Von didn't say the OP effed up his family. He said what he said (as opposed to what you heard) which is the post had nothing to do with pool, which it didn't, and everything to do with his effed up family, which it did.

Thanks

Kevin

Sorry to hear that Bill...my son has certainly given me challenges and I can assure you he was "not raised that way." I'm new to AZB but so far have had some great interactions and transactions with other members. look forward to getting know others that frequent the site.

Whether or not the OP's post is appropriate or inappropriate would be the decision for the Moderators here. Regardless, the comment about his "effed up family" was inappropriate period IMHO. While I've been fortunate to not have children with addiction problems, I have two good friends who have not been so fortunate. It is difficult to witness and even more difficult to comprehend but it seems to be reality these days all too often. Both of the friend's families are anything but "effed up". For the poster making that comment, you may want to consider the saying "but by the grace of God, there walks I".

You really do like being a forum policeman don't you? Always chiming in whenever there is some thread you don't agree with...Either become a moderator or keep to yourself.

Ironically I bet the REAL moderators would have handled the OP's post with more class than you've shown.

Just sayin
