Tip Tool Suggestion

The phenolics tend to get a bit glazed fairly quickly I find.
120 or 150 is good enuff. Just ruff the tip very slightly as you don't need to take any material off. Just enuff to scuff the surface.

I use a Willards shaper and a curved plastic shaper with sandpaper in it.
Thats what I find works for me.

The Pup looks like a nice little tool and well built. Probably last you a life time.
Good choice.

Second vote for the It's George. Way better than the Willard and last forever. Just don't get carried away with it. The can grind the while tip down to nothing in a couple minutes of shaping if you don't pay attention.

I ordered the Chu Shark Pup last night. I'll give it a whirl and see what happens. Thanks for all the input.

CBond you will be happy with the cueshark pup. Had mine over a year still works great. Nothing to replace, no hassel. Skip

Skip, yeah it looks like a well made and well thought out tool. Hopefully it's the last one I buy. Now if I could just find the perfect stroke I'd be set.

Thanks for the input. I will give that a try.

Go see RandyG at CueTech in Richardson. If you can't find your stroke there, it doesn't exist!

Steve

Really? I've thought about taking lessons but never have. I might just do that. Do you have any idea what he charges?

If no one's mentioned it yet, I'd vote for the Willard.
As for phenolic, I always used a bench grinder and a drill press for shaping and picking. Sears Craftsman seemed to do a good job. :)

I'm kinda partial to my "Tip Master". It has about everything you could want in a tip tool. I've heard horror stories about using the burnisher, but I have been using mine on 2 OB-2 shafts for 3 years now with no problems. At $20 I think it is a solid investment.....Dan

Ill tell you I think the best tip tool Ive ever used was the willard's (dime size). This thing is my favorite for sure.

I found an old thread on the Cue Shark Pup. It was reviewed very well and there is no abrasives to ever replace. The side shaper looks like it will work well. I think I'm going to go with it.

Hi...sorry for delayed response...haven't tried the side shaper yet, but I bought mine based on same review.
