I have heard some say a gel control super glue is best for doing tips, but most here recommend Loctite 401 I have seen different looking bottles when trying to purchase online is there more than one type of Loctite 401?

Loctite 401 is cyanoacrylate, essentially Superglue. Super Glue is a brand name that made their fame with cyanoacylate so very often people refer to any cyanoacrylate as "Super Glue".

Gel refers to viscosity. Loctite has a product line that has several viscosity types.

Loctite products are generally excellent IMHO.

EDIT: I mean to say they make many products so you might want to link to the ones you are asking about.

I have also used locktite gel and others, which work well if you use it fast enough, where it does not go bad. I have been using gorilla super glue in the small metal tubes and this stuff works well. It stays strong and does not go bad as quick as the others. I think it maintains it's strength, because the metal tubes protect the glue from any kind of light. I think over time, some of the others go bad and lose that bond, because of too much light and oxygen exposure. These metal tubes are small enough and it seems that the glue stays fresher, longer. This is what works for me....
