For the last several years that we have made tips I have been asked a question... How does humidity affect a tip?....

Humidity will only really affect a tip if it's exposed to air movements... Lets say you keep a cue in a case in the closet vs keeping it in a fancy display cue rack... After a year or 2 you will find that the tip that is on the cue in the rack has zero resemblance to what you recall being on it.. The one in the case will be pretty much what you remember it being...

If you want to display your cues I am all for it.. I have about 12 on display in my mancave..... My Best tip for you is to take a bit of Saran wrap and wrap the end of those cues you chose to display......

Here's something that also might work. Cover them with a layer of soap. Many manufacturers use soaps to preserve rubber, leather, and various other products. I wouldn't suggest liquid soap as it might soak into the tip. But rub with a non perfumed bar soap. What do you think?

not really thought about it... And using soap as a preservative makes sense based on the fact the it would cover leather and protect it. Based on that you might be able to buy paraffin blocks to treat the cues you choose to show and just cover the tip in a thin layer of it... way prettier than Saran wrap....

Never thought of paraffin. Might be harder to remove then soap if you wanted to play with the cue. But for display, would prob be better then soap.

Well, there's a new market niche. ...Tip Protectors---Protect your tip with the new tip Protectors and get your custom cue with matching joint and TIP protectors! :)
 
Well

Many of the hunters I know use a black rubber mini condom for rifle barrels that don't have an iron front sight. I forget who sells them but they are easy to find and made specifically for that use. They keep snow and what ever out of the barrel and you can shoot through them Electrical tape works too. So there ya have it!
 
Hmmmmm found a place that will customize the bolt thread protectors... Waiting on a reply to how many I have to buy.. Guessing I could send them out with tip orders if they are cheap enough.... :thumbup2:

There's already a tip protector on the market. When I get back to the poolroom I hang out in, I'll take a pic and get a price.

Bulk is roughly 8 cents a piece for orders of 1000. They are already being sold as tip protectors with a huge markup. Not trying to be a jerk to whoever is selling them, but it bugs me when I see people repackage inexpensive common items and mark it up 25 times the cost.
