Tips For This Shot

This is a very tough shot for me. I think I've asked about this shot years ago but I couldn't find the thread.

Anyway, anybody have any tips on how to pocket the 1B and draw the CB back for the 2B in the corner?

And please, let's assume this is the only possible shot available. Don't try and circumvent here. It's a completely straight-in shot where you are jacked up over the rail.

Start with your tip on the cloth & then move up a bit from there.

Remember you are hitting the cue ball with the top portion of the tip.

Don't try to follow through too far.

CBL. You know how golfers practice the putt right next to the ball? My guess is their only concern is linearity of the strike.

I do the same with anything jacked up. See, those few inches of stroke are the whole shot. Make sure it's linear and then parallel over to the actual shot. Set dead center CB and look only at the cue ball. Let cue drop through shot.
No buts about it. Do it until you don't screw up the alignment. It's otherwise a fundamental draw shot.

Uh, what? Rotation means you go from the 1B to the 2B.

you didn't mention it was rotation, and who plays 4 ball rotation?

I looked for the 9, didn't see it, so assumed it was 8 ball and you were shooting the solids.

You need to jack up to draw it back, takes pratice and watching Earl doing it ;-))

It's not a straight in shot. The balls are lined up to the point of the corner pocket. Trying to draw this ball is more then likely going to get you buried behind the wall of the five and eight ball.

need to learn(know) the exact lowest spot you can hit on the cueball you are using without a miscue.
then you have a chance to make your shot, as that is where you will need to hit. and wrist to add speed.

and if in the pool room with uncleaned and un polished balls you likely won't be able to do it.

if polished balls, it isnt that hard.

that answers your question from my point of view.
but to add.. in reality, bank the one and bring the cue ball around and below the 2 ball for an easy shot and safe if you miss the bank.

and that bank should be about even money to make it. aim a little above the first diamond(depending on table) as it will pick up some right hand english. and maybe some throw( if un polished balls).

Those are right in the fail zone of BHE. I think it's the masse effect but not sure. It'd take me a month to suss out - something I've yet to do. I just use a lame over cut offset and pray.

First, there is an angle there so don't need to draw...
But lets assume that it is a straight in shot, you need to jack up and draw. make sure your bridge is very solid and not shaky, hold the butt very loose, relax your body and muscles, especially your sholder, Use a slip stroke.
In any case, there is a big chance of getting behind the 5 and 8, either you won't draw all the way back or too muchand it will bounce off the rail back behind the 5 and 8. It is very hard to control the speed of the CB here and there better options to play here assuming that there is no angle
