Thanks for the invite, JLW!
I'm a graduate student in Boston. Haven't had much time to play pool lately, but I'm always practicing shots in my head while I'm in class.

I've been playing for about 5 years, and while I wish I had more to show for the countless hours I've devoted to the game, I can still get out now & then. I shoot with a "plain Jane" cocobolo Layani, and I feel no desire to change that any time soon.
Pool, for me, is an escape from the stresses of everyday life in academia. I find the physics of the game elegant & beautiful, and there is something about the
clack of the balls, and the
thunk of a ball dropping into the pocket, that is deeply satisfying to me in a way that I can't put into words. 'Course at times it can be nerve-rackingly frustrating, too, but at its best pool is a calming, meditative activity for me.
I've been reading AZB & RSB for years, soaking in as much knowledge (and filtering out as much chaff) as possible. Guess this is as good a time as any to introduce myself. If anyone up in Boston ever wants to shoot some on the weekend, just PM me!
Thanks,
Andrew
