Hey guys and gals. Just thought I would take a moment to invite you to introduce yourselves to everyone and get into the mix. It ain't so bad. This forum has had its share of controversy lately, but the vast majority of people on here are pretty decent folks. So what do you say? If you've never posted, sign in and tell us about yourself.

Thanks for the invite, JLW!

I'm a graduate student in Boston. Haven't had much time to play pool lately, but I'm always practicing shots in my head while I'm in class. ;) I've been playing for about 5 years, and while I wish I had more to show for the countless hours I've devoted to the game, I can still get out now & then. I shoot with a "plain Jane" cocobolo Layani, and I feel no desire to change that any time soon.

Pool, for me, is an escape from the stresses of everyday life in academia. I find the physics of the game elegant & beautiful, and there is something about the clack of the balls, and the thunk of a ball dropping into the pocket, that is deeply satisfying to me in a way that I can't put into words. 'Course at times it can be nerve-rackingly frustrating, too, but at its best pool is a calming, meditative activity for me.

I've been reading AZB & RSB for years, soaking in as much knowledge (and filtering out as much chaff) as possible. Guess this is as good a time as any to introduce myself. If anyone up in Boston ever wants to shoot some on the weekend, just PM me!

Thanks,
Andrew

Just a casual player now. My interest isn't as all-consuming as it once was.
And it could be so easy to jump into almost any thread if the passion was still
there. But it isn't. My excuse anyways...

However, i'm still trying to improve my game. Maybe i can learn something
here, or perhaps even be insightful/usefull to someone else.

:)

Ok, for the most part I'm a lurker, but I have a few posts under my belt. I definitely do a lot more reading than I do typing. Anyway, I currently live in Michigan, but am moving down to Florida in a few weeks. Gotta find a new room to hang out at which is a scary prospect. I love shooting like everybody else here, but realistically, I'm probably only a B-/C+ player. Eh, I'll live, it's still fun. Maybe one of these days, I'll take the time to undertake some serious practice.

hi all

hello all, I've been lurking for a few month's now. I'd like to thank everyone for the great playing & practicing tips, and the good laugh's that I've enjoyed here. keep'em coming!

Welcome to you guys. Good to have you here. Come on, I know there's more of you out there. Why not pop in to say hello?

JLW you are a class act. Always friendly, sincere, and an asset to AZB.

I'm a 41 year old engineer, living in the pocono's (commuting to NE NJ). Don't have much to offer from a skills perspective ... been playing about 3 years. Love the challenge, but find pool excessively frustrating most times. I play straight pool mostly, on tables with TIGHT pockets and can't beat my high run of 15 (actually proud of that - most guys I've seen around couldn't do it). Seem to have stagnated ... can't seem to improve my game regardless of the amount of practice I put in. I imagine its the kind of thing that takes years to really get a grip on (when I see the world champion is what, 16, it frustrates me ... all other sports have come easy to me ... EXCEPT POOL !!). Anyways, this is such a great forum & so much to be learned here ...

Hello all! I just got started back in the game after a 20 year layoff. My son just turned 18 and decided that we should start playing pool. I've been lurking for a couple months and like to read more than type. My son and I will be going to the IPT and hope to meet alot of you there!

Hi all!

I have been around this forum for more than a year already... like most of the people who replied, I would rather read than write most of the times... (sometimes really it's just laziness! :p )

I am amazed how knowledgable people in this forum are... and I am very thankful for all the learnings... (and the entertainment as well!)

I am a Filipino living in Manila. I used to play a lot of people when I was still in the university, but haven't played a lot when I started working already. I usually play in pool places in malls around Manila (usually with my girlfriend, who really doesn't like pool but plays with me just because she loves me too much! :D )

I am a big fan of Efren Reyes (who isn't?), and this forum keeps me updated on events that he's playing in your part of the world.

Again, big big thanks to everyone, and hope to read more good stuff in this forum.

Mike Howerton should consider giving a small gift to JLW for increasing the membership here.

Hi Jaden, beautiful daughter! Following you and icon, my avatar shows the most beautiful girl in the world to me...my brand new 5 month old daughter. :D Yup, I also understand the pride of new fatherhood. (New father beaming here as well)

BTW, i've been posting here the past two months, but never initially introduced myself. My first name is joseph. (If you're reading this DM, this is honestly my real first name :) )
