To Everyone

Prodigy1...Welcome to the forums! What do you mean, "about to start the transition to full time pool"?

Scott Lee

I was in the marine corps for four years. Got out last February and have had a full time job and played on the side. As it turns out I've been making more playing than my job had paid so i am leaving my job on Monday to pursue full time pool.

Your financial situation must be good cause your heading down a tough road.Good luck to you and welcome.

I love field trip days ;)

I do to, Roberta.
One time we all piled into the AZB bus and went over to the International Cue Tip Museum, in Lodestone, Nevada. Good Lord, there must have been forty or fifty tips there. You see it wasn't a very large museum, as museums go. Actually, it was in an out building behind some guys garage, but we sure had fun.

some advice

Lol....yeah my last job was at a pawn shop (asst mgr). I made roughly $600 a week and could spend a couple nights a week playing and make nearly double that.

to make 600 a week after expenses in pool is super tough.
i dont know you and you might be a heck of a player but what your getting ready to embark on is brutal.
i did what u call the road from 98-03 and traveling expenses were lower then now and economy was better.
i had to play the best player in every city or state on their home table.
now i was lucky i won about 499 out of 500 money games i played,i didnt get beat up ,robbed,or killed.i made what seemed like millions to a single young guy.
you call yourself a prodigy and you feel u can basically go pro so you have guts ,i commend that.
trust me though to play a guy on his home table whos getting staked, betting your own, along ways from home and fading expenses all i can tell u is you better play real close to pro caliber or u will miss that pawnshop bigtime.
im in victorville if you want to play some cheap sets to see if your ready for the road.either way good luck out there

I don't want to get into you personal and financial business on a forum, but I'd advise you to get into some private messages with people that have or do gamble for a living, even if it isn't at pool.

There are very important factors to take into account. Your bankroll, you skill level, the competition you are playing currently, how much you have travelled already, etc.

Another important concept to consider is variance. In poker variance is easier to explain, but as far as pool goes, you need to make sure you haven't just been getting "lucky" to find players willing to lose enough money to make it worth your while. You'll find most people aren't just going to give money and making more than 600 a week after expenses like John pointed out is very hard.

Point being, make sure you didn't just have a good few months and think that's the reason to quit your job......

He doesn't need conditioning.

It's only fair to warn you that he employs a never-used-before-strategy that allows for his guaranteed $1200-a-week minimum success on those stupid enough to enter the pit against the masterful Sensei.

Doesn't matter what spot you give the other guy if you know you can win. As soon as he makes a mistake I'll just run out or lock him up. Will be easy money

I don't see how anyone stands a chance.
