To Ted Harris Of Ted Harris Cues!

I know what the wait feels like, it can be torture. It's even worse if the guy just won't respond, you begin to wonder if he lost your cue or something. I'm sure that after acknowledging this public outcry you've made, he will get this squared away very soon. I think that when he does send you your cue back, you deserve some of the money back or some reparation for this, and it could also help restore his reputation.

kneecaps?

why dont you send some boys around to obtain your goods.

just an option.

Funny. Speaking of work quality, Ted put two tips on at a tournament for me. I waited over night. They both popped off the next day.

Poor Ted. :(

Cuemaker time OR general contractor time, this person still needs to communicate the situation and not leave the other person hanging. Who wants to do business with someone that is AWOL for 30 days or more?

The fact of the matter is it was a restoration and it was fnished prior to him even leaving atlanta to go to Florida! He waited till he was in Florida to communicate with me that he had to leave and then requested payment by email (no less) which I promptly sent him a check for payment in full! and he promptly cashed the check 2 days later, never sending me my cue back!!!!!!!!

All I can figure out ...

MrLucky .. That this is your punishment for treating that one
woman like you did .... lol (noticing the things you like)

my ted harris story......

i gave my richard black titlist conversion to ted at valley forge a few years ago to be leather wrapped. he said he didn't have time at the show to do it, but he would take it home to his shop, wrap it, and mail it back to me in 3 days. i payed him at that time.

3 MONTHS LATER, after tons of calls and emails, no response.
I decided to DRIVE to his shop (10 hours) away to get my cue.
when I showed up, he wrapped the cue for free.

to bad it cost me 3 months of waiting, 2 days of driving, a hotel, gas, and a huge headache.

when I called other cuemakers and collectors and told them my story, all they said was...." yup, that's ted alright".

does ted to good work?......yes
does ted make a nice cue?......yes

but at what cost.

i feel your pain.

CHRIS

Chris The saddest part of all this is that as you and others state he does good work! there is no need whatsoever for his poor attitude and lack of professionalism and honesty! As stated if my Cue was not finished I might have fallen into the trap of justifying his actions with the exscuse of him just being a slow craftsman! but since I know for a fact that it is finished both from him and his ex partner who witnessed this whole ordeal I know for a fact he is irresponsible and not to be trusted!!

get him in front of judge judy like a client did with tim padgett. she'll get you your money without listening to the story since she's already had experience dealing with tim.

 UMMMMMM!!!!!! HHHHHMMMMMM! which one are we talkin' about? :o

Just wanted to point out that alot of folks here in South Florida are still without power. I know I just got my power back Saturday after being without it for 12 days.

I gave Ted 3 shafts to be cleaned and to get a new tip on one. The work was done in the time frame promised and the work was great.

Something else to consider is Ted just moved his shop after having a business partnership with another cue maker go bad. I am sure during the time period leading up to the disintegration of this partnership alot of work went FUBAR.

Trd Harris Sighting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a pier in Miami with a Mac Cue in one hand and several crawdads in the other. With a 30' piece of 50lb.test monofilament line tied around the ferrule and three #4 hooks with agold Lou Butera tip tapper for a sinker. Kathy was sitting spraddle legged on the pier peeling tators and deep frying flounders in a used paint bucket. And Ted SAid, and I quote,"I'm just looking for my next meal". And when asked about the gold sinker, Ted Said, and I quote" becase they never rust, and sometimes the fish bite them".

Well all that info would be valid if.........
1) he had not cashed my check on the 6th of October and the hurricane had not been the 24th!
2) he had not told me my cue was ready and requested payment Sept 29th.
3) If he had the guts to at least reply to any of my calls / emails / post!!!!

while we're all bashing harris, and, it seems, deservedly so,,,,let's not forget this is an industry wide problem, so you have to do your research and referrals when choosing a cuemaker. i have had good experiences with a few.

maybe we should start a cuemaker rating based on workmanship/craft, repairs, promptness, and communication.

i wonder if there's a way to graph these categories here at AZB? only one of the four categories is subjective....and maybe a seperate forum for it.

this sounds like a great idea ! having read some of the other horror stories and ordeals that some of the rest of you have experienced! That would at least reward those that are good both at their profession and in giving their customers proper and HONEST service!

HE speaks!!!!!! even if he won't do it in public!!!!!

I received this in a PM!!!!

I hate people like you, your ordered the cue in private so keep the situation private. No one wants to hear your *****ing or whining.

 Well TED if this is your response it isn't private anymore! you had more than adequate time to keep it quiet and all you had to do was return my CUE!!!

Ted sounds like an asshat. He should be begging for your forgiveness and refund your money.

He wouldn't have "people like you" to "hate" if he wasn't such an incompetent buffoon with regards to responding to customers questions such as "Where is my cue, it has been a year?". What a joke.

MrLucky, aside from his complaint about your (rightly) publicizing his horrible service, did he actually say anything about returning your cue to you?!

Thank goodness for forums like this. I'll never understand business people who can't understand simple concepts like -- Rip off one customer for hundreds, and you will lose thousands in potential customers. And rather than promise to rectify the situation, he instead tries to quell the customer complaints. Weak.

NOPE! just a complaint about my publicizing his incompetance and he did that anonymously !!!!

I'm surprised someone from Ted's home state hasn't offered to go by and pick up the cue for you. I would definitely do you that favor.

So your saying that you are not SURE that it was Ted that sent the
PM with the "leave it in private" message.

You are eluding to it as a fact that it was Ted.

I have been following this as I think many are and you have a valid complaint if what you are reporting is 100% true.

Being its out in the open and you are stating facts about your check and
other items then I think it would be best just to keep the facts out there and not a random guess at a PMs author.

I hope you get all settled soon. Cuemakers can be hell to deal with.
