Tokin up and shootin pool!

I love it when the stoners step out to get their chemicals right. Whem they return I shoot faster and runout a few quick racks and watch it kill their buzz. Don't think marijuana would ever be called a performance enhancing drug for pool players...

On a parallel thought, the 60's music will never have and equal. Musicians and pool players have near identical lifestyles and keep the same hours.

Yep, and look at how many of those musicians are dying too early in their lives. A bunch of 'em just bit the dust in their late '60's. Kind of sad, really. I bet if they were given a re-do, they'd change a few things in their lives.

Of course they would. Paul McCartney, Ringo Star and Mick Jagger they never inhaled. I lost allot of friends from our demographic, I'm sure it was the uppers that wore out their engines. But we all make choices and live with those consequences. I wish my parents didn't smoke cigarettes, but society was different then, and on and on. I also wish I woulda never got rid of my Zamboti, but my girls were more important. I personally wouldn't live in a city with smog, but I did for 5 years in Long Beach 76-81. I've seen alcohol cause more problems in lives than any other drug, and it's legal EVERYWHERE. So how are we going to get a TRUSTWORTHY politician in the white house, to help us all?

I guess my post will be a bit off topic so please excuse it.

This is what gives the game a big black eye to the mainstream.

Moms & Dads do not want their sons or daughters taking up a game that has the connotations that pool has with drugs & 'gambling' surrounding it. They would rather have their sons & daughters play soccer or volley ball, etc.
.

Totally agree. Threads like this promote "0" and encourage dangerous behavior. Dangerous reckless behavior....such as driving home afterward. Get hurt, get killed or kill someone, DYI.
Keep a clean head, play pool, have fun....go home and enjoy Happy Hour or that illegal smile.

Wish life was that simple. Years ago I made comments about all the Avatars with nothing but cleavage, and butt cheeks....which have nothing ta do with pool, but the demographics around alcohol/bars and the night scene are not gonna change and many lashed out at me because of my willingness to Open this can of non-worms. Having raised two highly functional women, I easily see the dangers of what's on TV and media and in the paper. To me the biggest problems, are the death/blood/shooting's/movies that our younger generation seems to thrive on. Acting out starting with Columbine was the ''tipping point''. I'd prefer to see Barney Fife and movies like that, but the generation after the boomers, loaded our movies with nothing but hate, crime and all it's fodder. It's up to the generations after me to change this. I loved the movie Casablanca, and the such, when are we going to see more Good than Bad, it's up to you and your generation. WWII ended and the world rejoiced, now it's coming back full circle. Vietnam and no coverage, Middle east and you get more coverage about over there in one day than we got in a month during the 60's.

Things change and things stay eerily the same. Yesterday I watched an old episode of "The Rifleman" with Chuck Connors. You know, the prime time tv show from the early 60's. Unbelievably violent with killing and torture and with a revenge motif. Sound familiar? How about the recent "Taken" movies.

Matt Dillion/Gunsmoke............screams integrity and a mans word and friendships. If one's not good on their word, they are nothing.

I'm willing to bet pot wouldn't have been one of the things they decided to change

I bet everyone would like to change everg thing that proved negative in ther lives.

It is kinda the defintoin of negative, isnt it?

Won't happen because there aren't any. bernie might rank the highest on a honesty rating scale, but, he has shortcomings,so, we may as well put someone up who will keep us entertained while we're getting screwed.

No more ridiculous than your statements in a thread about smoking weed. I hope i don't o.d. today and take a nap, ive got things to do. :o

Of course your analogy is totally ridiculous. I'm not backing off, either. If you want to continue with another ridiculous analogy, go ahead. I'm here.

Check out all the people who have burned out their brains from decades of pot smoking. You don't think they exist? Look around you.

I'm in a pretty good place to look around, here in Portland. I actually see quite a few successful people. They may be oddballs, but they're far from burnouts. My guess is that you're ignorant as to what the real cause is. There is no Reefer Madness syndrome. Feel free to list all of the big old devil weed burnouts.

You would be surprised at the variety of people you see at legal dispensaries here in CO. Alcohol is waaaaaay more dangerous and has ruined far more lives than pot will ever hope to.

I have a few that play in my tourneys that run outside to do what they do. Some are awful but there's one that's a top player here that plays at a high level and I think he plays better after.

I can tell you I'm one of the guys that after 2-3 drinks I relax more and play better than sober but it doesn't last long if I continue.
