I had a thought late last night.....I know it's too late now, and it certainly wouldn't have been my place to speak for or suggest anything to Tom's family, but my though was....Wouldn't it have been a cool thing to have buried, or cremated as the case may be, Tom's pool cue along with him - I think he probably would have liked that - and you never know, he may have needed it in case he ran into St Louey Louey, or Gary Spaeth, etc. ^_^

Now, I'm not trying to rush these guys along or be morbid on Good Friday or anything, but......I like the idea of guys like Buddy, Keith, Ronnie A. Efren, etc. having their 'Balabushkas' with them when they go on to the 'next level' ^_^

What do you guys think of my poolplayers burial idea ?

PS, True story....There was a famous pimp in Chicago who when he passed away some years back, was buried in his Cadillac !

I know for a fact that he wouldn't have wanted to be burried with his Bushka, but perhaps his Lucasi. He wanted to leave the Bushka to his kids if I recall correctly!

I know I'd want my children or grand children to have it.

Stipulation that it was never sold.

If he made a request to be buried with it, that's one thing. However, lacking such, leaving it to his heirs is the right thing to do.

Whoa, lighten up....I wasn't serious about burying a Balabushka - I meant for a poolplayer to maybe take with him one of his cues that he liked, but that wasn't a valuable cue.

When Lamar25 (Lamar Redd) passed away last month they had one of the cues I built for him and articles about his winning a snooker event and such displayed near the body. I think that was how Lamar would have wanted it. The pool world around Atlanta just does not seem the same to me any longer without Lamar. I bet the Missouri pool seen will be lacking something special now also with Tom no longer being there.

Willie the Wimp and George Fels

Not quite Ghost. The pimp was Willie the Wimp and he was buried in a casket that was a replica of a Cadillac. I think the damn thing still cost about 50k. Willie's father, a much bigger and more famous pimp, Flukey paid for the funeral. Flukey played big money pool on 83rd and Ashland. Willie was gunned down and so was Flukey later on.

George Fels put 2 pieces of new chalk in our pal Jack Gunne's casket at his wake. He also left a note, "So long Buddy, thanks for the game. Take care of these two cubes. I'll come around when it's my shot, and we can play forever."

Freddy, Yeah, thanks for the clarification - your memory is better than mine, I couldn't remember the whole Willie the Wimp story....

........And, I also remember what George did at Jack Gunne's funeral, and I still have saved the page-long epitath about he and Jack that he wrote in Billiards digest magazine - my eyes get damp remembering that.

Rest In Peace Tom!

He was well known in the pool world as Tom Martin for many many years.
I never knew his name was Ferry until I saw it on here.
