Does anybody know whatever happened to Tom Jennings, the school teacher out of New Jersey that won 2 U.S. Open 14.1 titles when the P.P.P.A. split from the B.C.A.? After his challenge match vs Larry Lisciotti (which Lisciotti won) I don't recall hearing Jennings name at all. Thanks.

Tom was a straight pooler from Edison, New Jersey, and a brilliant one at that. The last time I saw him compete was in the 1978 World Straight Pool Championships in NYC. As I missed it, I'm not sure whether he played in the 1979 event, but he was definitely not there in the 1980 event and subsequent ones.

As wonderful a player as he was, pool was Tom's passion, but not his life. He ultimately returned to his true profession, not as a teacher but as a professor of mathematics at Middlesex County College in New Jersey.

By my estimate, Tom would be 53 years old now. I haven't heard anything of hm in years.

Mizerak, who lived in Metuchen, New Jersey (not terribly far from where Tom taught), back then, and was also a member of the teaching profession, might be able to provide some info on Tom.

In one magazine interview, he said that he would practice each day until he ran 100.
