Tommy Kennedy How good?

You KNOW I've been in the Datsun.

Was that the one that got stoled?

...and NOTHING on the DICK VERNON!?!??!

TK from FLA

Let me tell you how good Tommy is. I spent a lot of time with Tommy in the TAP league sales booth at the SBE and at TAP nationals the past few years where he was doing his ball juggling routine and challenge matches. Players picked the game, 8, 9, or 10 ball and they got the break. The first time we did this I saw Tommy play 63 racks of pool and he only missed 2 makeable balls!! This was on a 7 foot Diamond table but come on.....2 missed balls in over 60 racks. This is not counting kick shots when players played him safe. I'm talking makeable balls. Unreal. Not only is he a great player but he is even a better person to be associated with. He took a liking to my daughter and gave her a cue case the next time he saw her. Just a top notch all around good guy and someone I am proud to call a friend......PS...I was at the US Open when Tommy won it in 1992. He shot brilliantly all week and in the finals Archer won the first game and never won another one. And this is when Johnny was young and at the top of his game. Tommy played almost perfect pool. You can search it on Youtube and see for yourself.

I was at that same tournament. I can't remember if it was the finals or an earlier game, but I remember Tommy standing over the table looking at a shot. He got down to shoot, then got back up, back down, back up. Clearly contemplating what to shoot. Someone in the audience yelled "Come on Tommy! You can do it!" He just chuckled a second and said "Yeah, I can do it" and got back down and ran out. That was the first time I had ever heard his name or seen him, but I'll always remember that.

From all accounts, TK seems like a real nice fellow. If anyone speaks with him...let him know that if he ever gets around the NC, SC or VA area, let me know...I'd like to buy him a beer and watch him play a few racks while I pick his brain a bit.

He's in Elizabeth City Nc now, he just arrived and will be at Colonial Cues till Thursday.

Thanks wimpy, I'm going to try and get up that way and watch a bit around the 18th-20th

Your welcome Bic, if your planning on coming from out of town to The Great Dismal Swamp Classic then you may want to purchase a seat. Demand has been extremely high this year for seats. If you've ever seen our poolroom then you'll know we are one of the smallest around. We only had 60 seats up for sale and half of them have been purchased already. They are only $50 and get you free admission all 3 days to see some of the best players in the world up close. All 4 tables can be seen easily from any seat in the room. There all great seats. You can see our flier and post under the tournament announcement forums here on AZB. Thanks

I'm just up the road in KDH so I'm going to try and get there. What is Tommy doing there so early? Does he want to play me...j/k.

Ride up Bic, Tommy will be here all day. He will definitely play you a set. He's helping us get ready for the Swamp Classic. He'll be here till tomorrow night.

Alright, I with Tommy right now. He said he'd love to play you a set. I just showed him your post. He's highly amused by some of the old posts on this thread calling him an average regional player, lol. He especially liked the one saying he looked like a lil bobblehead.

I got up there around 5:30 today and met Tommy and a couple of other guys. We spoke for a bit. We didn't get a chance to play any pool as the tables were/are being re-felted. I forget that fellow's name but he was doing a fantastic job on the tables. They are going to be great!

Tommy is a super nice guy and I wish y'all all the luck with the tournament. Keep us up on the results including Johnny and Tommy's exhibition match.

The guys name doing the tables is Tim Kring with Chalk-Up Inc. He's fantastic, the job he's doing on these tables is phenomenal. We're two weeks out now from The Great Dismal Swamp Classic and we just added John Hennessee and Ronny Park to the paid player list tonight. Hope you will make it.
