Tommy Kennedy

Tommy Kennedy a shortstop? That's an amusing statement.

The guy has done a lot for the game in the past. He has beaten many players of note during his career, & also runs a great tour that features many participants that may not be as well-known as he is, but are nonetheless high-caliber & respected players. His SE tour is open so that anyone can play if they desire to. It's my understanding there are discounts offered to juniors, women & amateur league players.

I remember Tommy as being one of the most feared, if not THE most feared, players on the old Florida 9-ball circuit. If memory serves, he captured the player of the year award many times over when that tour was in existence & consistently lead in the rankings. He also is the only un-ranked & un-seeded player to win the US Open, beating the #1 ranked player not once but twice in the tournament.

He also has one of the nicest personalities & is one of the most approachable professional players for fans to strike up a conversation with. There is no ego, no snot-nosed attitude, & no "I'm the best & you're not" crap with him. There is only genuine warmth & good-hearted enthusiasm on his part when it comes to talking about pool. He is truly one of pool's best ambassadors.

Tommy will be one to watch in the upcoming IPT event. I hope they interview him. It will definitely improve pool's image. Again anyone who lives within a reasonable drive from one of his tour stops should drop in and play you will not be disappointed.

That's right Mr. Vader, and for all the reasons you have mentioned, we should hand him the check when we all go to lunch next week. Thai?

And is the guy ever NOT smiling? Whenever you see the guy, I swear it seems like he just heard a good joke.:D A real class act, that's for sure. Peace, John.

I thought the exact same thing John, I don't recall ever seeing a photo of him without that giant grin on his face. Although I have never met Tommy in person it is not hard to see that he is a very well liked and respected guy.

Calling a US Open champion a short stop does not diminsh Tommy`s status but it raises the questions about the credibility of the person that made that statement.

An interesting query to be certain, Mr. Blackjack. But, are you sure you want Mr. Kennedy to venture into Parts Unknown with you? You surely remember what happened to you last time you decided to pay me a visit, correct? :D ;)

I'll give Mr. Kennedy a call tomorrow and see if he is willing to venture to Parts Unknown. The last time I paid a visit to Parts Unknown you didn't show up. The time before that I have no comment.

True enough. If I had gotten the message sooner I would have though. :)
