Tongue Oil for Shafts?

A friend recently refinished his Predator 314 shafts using tongue(?) oil. I don't know anything about that oil, but his shafts look and feel excellent now. Is this a good product to use on shafts in general? Is there any possibility that this oil might interact with the glued, radially spliced Predators?

Furniture makers have used a blend of tung linseed and urethane for eons with to my knowledge no problems with glue letting go. I have never had a problem with cured glue debonding from that mix. Can't say that for pred don't know what stickem they used.

Oh,wait, you mean TUNG oil . Tommy D.

the glue predator uses is water soluable, so tung oil or any other kind of oil finish shouldn't be a problem. on my snooker cues, i use linseed oil, it's a traditional english finish for cues. works very well, it keeps the cue very slick. it does yellow and darken the wood over time though, but on ash i think it looks quite nice
