"The Silent Assassin", Mr. Tony Robles has teamed up with one of pool's biggest influences, Predator Cues, www.PredatorCues.com, to introduce a fresh and exciting new tour to the Tri-State area - The Predator 9-Ball Tour. Created by Tony Robles, The Predator 9-Ball Tour is a challenging new tour designed to increase opportunities for all players to compete in high level competition.

"My goal in starting this new tour was to provide more tournaments for players around our area to compete in highly skilled events to boost the sport of pool," said Tony Robles. "I want to help keep the sport alive and thriving in New York. Pool is very important to this area and the more tournaments players can compete in, the better chance the sport will have to grow and prosper."

With the solid reputation Mr. Robles has developed over the years, this tour will undoubtedly be a genuine asset to the sport of pool and help promote it in a positive light. It is the tour's goal of improving the reputation and enthusiasm of the sport that has helped The Predator Tour secure many of it's sponsors, of whom the tour world would like to thank a great deal. Special thanks to Rob "Omen" Staskowski from www.PoolontheNet.com who volunteered his time to design a sleek new website for The Predator 9-Ball Tour, www.Predator9BallTour.com.

The tour's first event will be held at Raxx Pool Room, Sports Bar & Grill in West Hempstead, Long Island on February 2nd & 3rd. The response has been overwhelming and the tour is expecting a full 64 player field for their first event. Players are encouraged to arrive early to guarantee their spot. For more information about the tour please visit our website at www.Predator9BallTour.com.

If any sponsors or pool rooms are interested in becoming a part of the Predator 9-Ball Tour, please feel free to contact Tony at TonyRoblesNYC@aol.com.

We hope to see everyone there!

Some interesting rules for the tour, no jump cues, no soft breaks, break from the box, only 4 pockets for the 9 on the snap. Best of luck to the tour and I hope to make it to some events.

Thank you for all your positive comments GG. I really appreciate it as well!!!

I am really looking forward to this tour! Rumor has it that Mika and Thorston may be in attendance. Just a rumor though.

Will there be a payout for highest finishing junior and female? I think this is a good way to encourage them to particpate.

Just don't pay them in coupons!

Honestly, I think this is a bad idea. There are two things that are going to make this tour successful - Money & Prestige and both of these things are going to be generated by how many A's and above it draws especially when you consider the field is capped at 64.

I'm sorry for being blunt here but what do women and junior players offer to warrant additional incentive? Isn't a graded entry fee incentive enough?

I understand your point too Jude, but I still find it an interesting idea.

Yes, the tour was probably designed more for the higher handicaps given it's an open tournament, but it is always good to see a diverse group of players, including females and other up and coming young players compete in high level competition. And it's an interesting idea on how to draw in those "new" people. The incentive is drawing more attention and interest to the sport from all angles, i.e. Tony's main goal in all this. Everyone was once a lower handicapped player and to build up to a better one, you gotta take the beatings from the great ones to see all the crap you still don't know.

Maybe it's not best suited for this particular tour, but a clever suggestion regardless.

I plan on playing in as many of them as I can. Hopefully I get a first round bye and not come in dead last!

Congrats to Tony!!

I wish the very best for him and his tour!!

Well, I have to disagree with Jude, many top tours (Tommy Kennedy's, Southern Billiards Tour for example) do this and, NO, I do not think, a lower entry in a non handicapped event, is enough of an incentive. So your donating a little less, most still know, they are donating none the less. If the goal of the tour is to only have A players or higher, than it should be labeled a pro tour and leave it at that...
Maybe, rather than using gender or age they could do a small payout to the top D, C and B? and base it on their entry fees + maybe 10 or 20%? Most tours do $50 or $75, we are not talking about major money here.
Most of the time the field in any tourney are filled by local players, in this type of an event. Again, it gives some incentive and will get players to join in, who otherwise may not, knowing they have little real chance to cash.
Filling a 64 player field, is not as easy as one might think, esp when it is top heavy with very strong players. If you went the gender/route it should exclude pros by the way, since obviously Karen Corr or Landon Schuffet are perfectly capable of cashing....

I know this feeling! :)

It's a very creative way to bring in other types of players. I really like it. I think after the first tour stop is completed it's something that should be looked into further. Thanks for the input!

Sexist!

You want money set aside seperately for women , but only SOME women? How many rulebooks is this going to be based on? Not only is your original suggestion sexist, but now you want to throw new rules at Tony? Are you planning to drive up from the south to participate? This tour hasn't even started yet and you are telling them how to run it.

I am an advocate of paying out top finishing Junior (non-pro) or Female (non-pro). The only reason being is that every local Open event that arises, starts out with a nice sized field with a good mix of high caliber players and lower caliber. Eventually the lower caliber players call it quits as they never get a chance to cash...The point is everyone needs a taste of some kind of win, be it top finisher or just simply cashing in an event. This should make for more of a consistent larger field ...which equates to more prize money...which leads to a more reputable and recognized tour. Anything to attract more players...

Can Tony incorporate the shortest male finisher as well?
