tony ryan cue extension problems

i ordered a 12.5" extension after reading some good reviews about this product, but mine has some very severe problems. basically the opening is way too small to fit any of my pool cues. you have to really push to get it to fit, and even then it doesn't go all the way down. so the extension is barely hanging on and crooked as well since it doesn't have much to hold on to. in addition the fit is so tight, the air pressure inside the extension is counteracting you as you try and push it on. i drilled a hole to vent the pressure to solve that problem. the tightness of the fit also caused the foam lining inside to rip apart as you insert and remove the cue. i've super glued back the pieces that ripped off, but it's just gonna keep happening i suspect. also the top ring came unglued, i had to super glue that back on as well. i'm very unhappy with it, i can't see how this thing can pass as a usable item. maybe i will try a longoni....

I've never seen one of these extensions, but I would guess that it would slide down over the shaft and snug down onto the butt. It sounds like you are trying to force it on over the butt.

I use one of these and also have a few buddies that use them. One thing my buddies have done is put a little baby powder in side of it in order to make it slide on better. What ever you do, do not twist them off as it could damage the inside of the extension....Hope this helps.

Have you measured the butts of the cues on which you've tried the extension? I have one that fits on most everything I have with the exception of my Sailor cues which have a big flare at the end.

Mine fits all my cues perfectly except a custom I have that was made in1969. The butt is just too big on that cue...

i don't think my cue butts are that big. i tried a predator sneaky, a couple lucasi's. i can get them on if i really struggle with it, but i can't imagine wrestling with that during a match.
i'll try the baby powder trick, see if that helps. i already learned my lesson about not twisting! they should put a warning label on it about that!

I've had one for quite a while and have used it on many cues with no issues. I think its a great tool.

I just got mine and ripped in the lining inside on the first day. I'm moving on to trying other ones as well.

cue extension

I have this cue extension thing and it looks like a vacum cleaner tube. Made from black plastic it adds little weight and fits perfect has never damaged the linen wrap on any of my cues. It really looks like junk but is the nuts! I think this thing cost me like $15.

i think you are talking about the cue reach bigkahuna. i looked at that and i didn't really like it that much. i think i'm going to try a longoni. i wish more cues had screw in extensions like on my snooker cues

Screw in ones are the best one, in my opinion. I have one cue with screw in extension feature done by Kevin DeRoo, similar to below photo from his website. I can screw in a 1/2 butt section from my action or Fury j/b break cues with same quick release thread.

I also have another cue with screw extension done by a local cue maker but this guy custom cuts his.

I know it does not look as nice, all I can say is it works better than any other extension I have seen. It just works and is so long you can even use a regular stroke with a bridge and I have seen Cory Duel use one that way.
