Tony Watson,,How is he ??

I have a friend who is hooked on pain pills and other drugs. I tend to be too empathetic and was discussing this friend with someone one day wondering what I could do. His advice was, "When you see a tree falling, there isn't anything you can do." You might want to rush over and catch it, but it's not going to happen. You're not going to stop a falling tree. Hopefully, this friend will come to the point where he really wants to straighten up. When that time comes, I'll be there.

To be a friend, you just have to be there. Sometimes you can't stop your friend from doing something that is self destructive, but if your efforts fail don't give up. Usually when they crash is when they need a friend the most, and that's when you need to offer all the help you can. If they show signs of wanting to clean up their act, that's when you jump in and do what real friends do. If you just turn your back and say "I told you so", you are just as ****ed up in the head as your druggie friend is. I speak from experience here ;)

He has to fight

I had a very promising future until I became addicted to crystal meth.It ruined everything I had going for myself. I can thank god today that I will be three years clean this december. However not very many people make it out alive. It is the toughest thing I have ever had to face in my life and I pray that Tony can find a way to climb out!

Life has more for tou to do. You have more for you to do.
Congratulations and I wish you all the best.

The other day I said I was done with the forum & some of the "people" in it but once again compassion has compelled me to speak up.

Lamar, I care.

I met Tony when he was a 15 yr old fresh faced, clean & sober kid. There IS a good person behind the drugs. If no one in the world cared about all the people out there that have gotten themselves mixed in that stuff, the sidewalks would literally be littered with them and none would be recovering today. Luckily for them and us, most addicts have someone in their lives that care & try to help. Until the US Open, I had not seen Tony since he was maybe 17. I was away from pool for quite a few yrs and when I started coming back around pool, I heard the stories. I cared. Seeing him at the open was heartbreaking. He's younger than I am but he looks so much older. He's tried to clean up but he doesn't have a support group behind him to help him. People would rather help him find a pill so that he can play pool so they can bet on him. No one wants to help him through withdrawals or help him find a place that can help him.

Every drug addict was sober at one time and somewhere there is someone that cares about the person that is now a drug addict. I know Tony's parents. His mother is a sweet lady... I bet she cares. I bet his kids care. Lamar, maybe you only know the Tony of today....try to remember that there is a Tony of yesterday too and that some people do care.

Timberly...If Tony really wants help to get off that crap, send me a PM....I can help him with some info on how to kick the habit, with ABSOLUTELY THE VERY MIN, OF WITHDRAWLS, AND MOST HAVE ZERO....IT IS A NEW MEDICINE OUT THAT IS WORKING WONDERS IN PATIENTS WITH PILL ADDICTIONS.

AND THIS GOES FOR ANYONE ELSE WANTING OFF THIS CRAP.....JUST LET ME KNOW.....AND NOOOO I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO AFFILIATION WITH THESE PROGRAMS, NOR DO I MAKE ANYTHING OFF THEM.....I know how tough it can be to stop taking pills, and I took them by Rx only and it was still tuff....so if anyone needs help let me know....and I will see what I can do OK!

Holly, I never knew what you were going through. Thanks for having the fortitude to kick it. That takes more courage than anything and I applaud you for it. As Ironman says, the future is even brighter for you today. You've got the talent and smarts to do whatever you set your mind to. I am proud of you, girl.

Linda

Thanks Linda! Anyone who gets involved with that stuff has a very hard battle before them. The odds are definetly against them,so hopefully Tony is strong enough to make it out. So..is that your husband in that picture or just a pool boy??!!

Honey, that is Richard Gere. I know, he likes guys, but hey, he is still fine (but can't hold a candle to my husband of course! :D Stray Bullet, aka General Li made all us women get a hunky avatar because the guys were getting the women pinups.)

Back on topic, I don't know Tony but I see what destruction pills and other drugs and alcohol do to screw up lives. It takes great strength to be able to get out from under its death grip and I sure hope he makes it.

How is he? Who cares he a drug addict, he's most likely stealing somthing as I type this. Addiction is a weakness in character and if I was the federal Gov. I would put millions of kilo's of bad shit on the street and fix the problem for good.

Well, with that attitude, I guess that is why you are no position of control!

You still have a promising future Holly. You probably don't remember me but I met you years ago. You are a great pool player and more importantly you are a human being with a lot to offer the world.
