Top 5

My favorites are : Archer, Souqet, Bustamonte, Reyes and Mika Innommen. I really enjoy watching them as they are very good at making the tough shots look easy! I try and incorporate thier style of play in my own practice.

World champions:
Dan Louie so methodical
Kim Davenport very deliberate
Efern Reyes very good at kicking
Mike Sigel made alot of ball consecutively
Jay Swanson was so smooth

other notables
Alan Boutin(frenchy) very fast & crazy
Jose Parica one leg up
Earl stickland when he blows up
Corey Duel when younger was cocky
Alex the Lion because he playing good right now

Good players

Current players...
Efren...just because he's Efren
Bustamante...the swinging stroke
Earl...great nine ball
Parica...he keeps hitting them good
Johnny Archer...need to worry when he's hot

Old timers...
Ronnie Allen...great one pocket
Jersey Red...similar as Ronnie but a super smooth stroke
Irving Crane...always solid
"The MIZ"..smmmooooothhhhhh
Ed Kelly...hit them good at all times ...deliberate & dangerous
Luther Lassiter...can't stop at 5!

Yang because he has one of the most explosive breaks in 9-ball, and the guy can't weigh more than 120. Being in the top 10 in the world since his 17th b-day is another reason. His hawkish, intense glare at the table when he's down over a shot being a third.

Busta because his stroke makes pool look highly acrobatic. And of course, his break.

Earl because he free-strokes every shot, and when he's on no one hits the balls cleaner into the pockets.

Archer in the 90's. God I want that guy back. I don't care if he wins the next 4 WPC's, if he rolls another pocketed ball into an adjacent pocket I'll pop a hernia.

(believe it or not) Souqet! One of the quickest releases from the wrist, you can hear the great timing of his stroke on every shot. I can accept his deliberations at the table, because it's not excessive. He's just a methodical player, nothing wrong with that.

-Roger

Yang Ching Shun - for shotmaking and his powerful(but sometimes no control) break shot.
Efren Reyes - always capable of hitting unbelievable shots.
Chao Fong Pang- for his cue ball control.
Earl Strickland - for his antics(for entertainment values. :D ). Hope to see him in his motorbiker attire with shades and gloves on. :p

Efren- because there is so much you can learn from any game he plays.
Earl- because even with the attitude, He's an amazing 9-baller
Santos Sambajon- reminds me of Efren in his attitude at the table
Keith Mcready- Because there is no-one who plays like him that can entertain the crowd better.
George Breedlove- I see an absolute confidence in his stroke on every shot- never seen him miss a shot because of babying the ball.

Least favorites:
Jimmy Mataya- should find a real job - he's not funny- wants to be the next Fats
Scott Frost- just something in his attitude

Sam

Reyes - because he's so creative
Strickland - because he's so theatrical, so volatile, and so talented
Pagulayan - gifted young player and game's newest legend
Kid Delicious - nobody gets more excited when he's playing well
Piggy Banks - especially during banking hours

Bobby Pickle
Keith McCready
....pool AND a floor show
Efren Reyes
....where did that shot come from?
Jose Parica
....low key and still animated
Earl Strickland
....the man you love to hate

if i had to pick two guys to watch play 9 ball, it would be Oliver Ortmann and Earl Strickland. i guess i say that because Ortmann and Kung Fang Lee were the first two players i watched on ESPN back in 1998 (CoC '98) and that was about the time i got addicted.

in no particular order:
Oliver Ortmann
Earl Strickland
Efren Reyes
Nick Varner
Johnny Archer

DCP

Efren because he is an artist at the table and he has a great demeanor. You can watch him play in the tournament and gamble late at night.
Oliver Ortmann because he is about my height and he has the basics down pat!
Earthquake Kiether with the either McCready because no one puts on a show like him.
Parica because he is legendary. He can come up with stuff you've never seen before.
Buddy Hall because he has one of the best looking strokes around.
Johnny Archer because he can be the best out there.

1-Efren Reyes, because he is the Michael Jordan of pool, he does everything well on the table and makes it look easy and he comes off as a real nice guy on TV and its silly but I have matches on my hard drive where i know efren loses but when I watch them I still hope he wins

2-Bustamante, because of his fluid stroke and aggresive play

3-Earl Stricland, because he is a great player and he plays the role of the bad guy well

4-Corey Deuel, not the corey deuel of now but of a few years ago when he looked unbeatable

5-Mike Massey, he is a trick shot artist but he has the most powerful draw stroke I have ever seen, he also comes off as a really nice guy

Current players:

George Breedlove -absolutely solid and repeatable stroke, one of top 5 breaks of all-time, absolutely fearless, offensive power like no one I've seen (if there was any money in pool, every one would know him).

Alex Pagulayan - he's got the personality, and I don't think he misses very often.

Nick Varner - great all-around game, plus he's funny as can be when he wants to.

Efren Reyes - he's good.

John Schmidt - he's got great skills, and seems to have a fair bit of gamble too.

Simple answers:

Alex Pagulayan: Anyone that doesnt put him on the top of thier list must be blind, i am not just saying this 'cause he one the WPC. I have been one of his biggest fans for a while. Amazing attitude at the table, always looks like hes having fun. Great break, great stroke, plays the game as good as anyone.

Luc Salvas: Not the greatest player to ever play the game, but usually has a pretty good showing in most tournaments he enters. Lightning fast player, noones ever gonna bitch about him 'slow-playing'. Great attitude as well, looks like hes always enjoying himself at the table.

Efren Reyes: Maybe the best player to ever play the game. Great positions player, ball management is second to none. Ball management is what i call controlling balls on combos, breaking clusters and controlling multiple balls. Shrugs off his misses, great personality, knows how to play little jokes to keep the audience laughing.

John Horsfall: Im a little biased here because he lives in the same town i was born in, maybe born in the same hospital. I love studying him, where as the others i like just 'watching' more. Great preshot routine, patient, great mental strength. Watch him take out Frankie Hernandez in the 2003 US Open if you want proof that he is a great player.

Keith Mcready: The only player i know that talks to everyone including his opponents during a match. Always seems like he's just playing pool with a buddy, not playing a tournament. You get to see something absolutely incredible in just about every match he plays.

The man i forgot: Re-edit post:
Buddy Hall: Greatest stroke i have ever seen, its insane how softly he can hit the ball and still draw it back large distances. Pure beauty to watch that stroke of his.

Notables: Yang Chin Shun, Earl Strickland, Mika Immonen, Corey Dueul, Steve Davis, Francisco Bustamante.

Great Players that arent so fun to watch:
Ralf Souquet, Johnny Archer (although he isnt playing as slow anymore).
