Top 5 US Players?

Harriman did not make the IPT in what I consider a travesty. I don't want to argue this until the cows come home, but I just don't see how you could believe that Mike is at the same level as Corey, Hatch, Van Boening etc...I don't think he has to win against Nevel or or Putnam or Chohan or Charlie Williams - and any of the top 10 should be (and do) beat these guys regularly....

Great stuff everyone, it is reassuring that we have many great players that can represent us proudly for many years in the pool world.

Hatch <- from what i herd is in dead stroke

Dennis Hatch is an absoloute monster. I am very surprised not many people picked him. If you want to see a perfect stroke, silky smooth and dead straight, Dennis is the man to watch. He is definately in the top 5.

I also forgot Larry Nevel. He's gotta be in the top 5 in the USA, if not the top 10 at the most.

Look at the rankings. The best indication we have other than peoples opinions is the current UPA rankings which is up to date before the IPT came along and the UPA stalled.

1 Mika Immonen 545
2 Johnny Archer 535
3 Thorsten Hohman 447
4 Mike Davis 405
5 Ralf Souquet 390
6 Corey Deuel 367
7 Shawn Putnam 320
8 Charlie Williams 307
9 Troy Frank 300
10 Rob Saez 290

11 Rodney Morris 272
12 Marcus Chamat 247
13 Charles Bryant 230
14 Jeremy Jones 227
15 Gabe Owen 225

16 Tony Robles 225
17 John Schmidt 225

18 Jose Parica 225
19 Tony Crosby 217
20 Luc Salvas 205

OK not every player played in every comp but most of these guys did. With the exception of maybe SVB you can't really argue with peoples results.

Mike might not be the most naturally talented and his stroke isn't the best BUT he gets results consistently.

what the heck is the IPT?......

oh, sorry......I was fast forwarding a few years...:)

TOP 5 (alphabetical order)

Archer

Deuel

Harriman

Morris

Schmidt

Danny did not get a meal ticket for the IPT. He had to qualify in Orland Park. Which BTW he went undefeated through a field of world beaters with the likes of players such as: Luat, Matlock, Slivka, Bowman, Wiseman, Griffis (cant remember the others) to EARN his opportunity.

I also believe if it was possible to have a tournament between these five players, and have them play the following disciplines: 8-Ball, 9-Ball, 10-ball, Straight Pool, Bank Pool, and One-Pocket, Danny would have the highest average finish combining all events.

Me, too. I continue to consider Johnny Archer the best American pool player.
Some might argue that Johnny's the best, but if I have a choice of which match to watch in a tournament i'll choose a match other than the one Archer is playing in. In his younger days he was dynamite to watch and next to impossible to beat, but the new Archer is quite different...SLOW might be the best description.
